I recently travelled with Gulf Air
I recently travelled with Gulf Air, London Heathrow to Dubai, via Bahrain. The outbound journey was perfect, very quick luggage check in, flight left on time, arrived in Bahrain on time. We were quickly ushered to connecting flight, which also arrived on time in Dubai. The crew were courteous and the food and drinks were good.
Had the same experience on the journey back to Heathrow via Bahrain. Everything was absolutely fine and ran on time, until we were diverted to Frankfurt due to the Heathrow fire. The initial on the ground communication from Gulf Air was dire, however, we were taken to the airport hotel and taken back to our plane later the same day. I cannot fault Gulf Air at all on all four flights, but staff on the ground at Frankfurt Airport could certainly improve their communication skills should there be another similar incident. However, I do understand the special circumstances out of their control.
I would certainly travel with Gulf Air again, they were brilliant, so don't be put off by negative reviews.

A very bitter and disappointing…
A very bitter and disappointing experience.
I chose this airline for my flight from Paris to Doha, but the night before departure, I had to cancel due to an ear infection, as it worsens during flights and made it impossible for me to travel.
Unfortunately, my cancellation request was easily rejected, and even though I requested to reschedule my flight instead of a refund, they refused to accommodate me. This feels like a form of exploitation of passengers.
In any case, I will never choose this airline again, and anyone considering flying with them should be aware that customer care is not a priority—only money matters to them.
Family with infant not sitting together
It’s absolutely ridiculous that they won’t allow families with a 6-month old infant to sit together unless you pay for the seat selection! Customer service is useless and with no empathy at all towards a family that only wish to sit together to help each other with the demands and needs of a little baby! I will never fly with Gulfair again and I wish many will read my review and avoid at any cost this airline company!

Poor Customer Support
Gulf customer service is probably the worst. I have been trying to get in touch with the customer support team but there's no connection with them. It's always a robotic assistance. No proper information. I booked a flight from Manchester to lahore. And return to Manchester and unfortunately, I had a neurological problem and gulf air does not seem to be able to either refund my return ticket or rebook my booking. I just wasted my money and effort. It's no worth a while.
Unreliable
This Airline is totally unreliable. The disadvantage of flying in late winter is fog and ice. My flight was delayed 12 hours ( there was no temporary rest area or food vouchers except hot drink ) and by the time l got to Middle age for connecting flight, the connecting plane had left. Everyone at air terminal confessed to not understanding English so 500 of us had to wait another 4 hours before we could find an airline who only took us to Bangkok. We then had to find flight to Singapore. With the exhaustion, l left my passport onboard. The Australians passengers by this time with their children had been without fresh clothing for 3 days as they too had to wait a few hours more before their final journeys. The children’s were screaming. It was the most awful experience. Never fly with a foreign airline as they do not honour basic international standards for passengers comfort and safety.
This incident was few years back but l learnt quick never to take connecting flights with stopover Middle East.

Poor behaviour Flight attendants, Rude way of talking in normal scenarios.
You keep on asking for as small a request as giving water; flight attendants will take 40 minutes even for that after repeated reminders.

Terrible Experience with Gulf Air
Major issues:
- Lost one bag, 2 Damaged Bags and No Accountability!
- Poor boarding process specially at Bahrain airport (Chaos at waiting queue)
- Poor Flight attendants behaviour, bad way of talking in normal scenarios
I am absolutely disgusted with the services provided by Gulf Air on my recent flight from Delhi to Manchester (Flight Date: 31st August, Arrival Date: 1st September). I entrusted Gulf Air with my trolley bags. ONE was lost AND TWO of them were severely damaged during transit. This is beyond unacceptable for an airline that claims to offer quality service!
Upon arrival in Manchester, I was horrified to find my bags battered and damaged, with no prior warning or apology. These bags were new, and now they are barely usable, thanks to Gulf Air’s negligence. Also, one big bag was lost.
What’s worse is the complete lack of accountability or concern from the staff. I reported the issue immediately upon arrival, only to be met with indifference and a lack of responsibility.
This level of service is appalling, and I will never fly with Gulf Air again. If you care about your belongings, I strongly urge you to avoid this airline at all costs. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare with Gulf air, never recommended to anyone!
Upgrade gone wrong
I was travelling with an infant. An upgrade offer email was sent to me, I made a bid and was successful. However, in the airport they could not check me in and nobody knew why. Then after an hour wait and calling the central office they advised that they upgrade was only applicable to me but not the infant and I would have to pay another £325 to get it. When I made the bid I made it for my booking and the infant ticket is by default attached to the adult ticket as no seat assigned. Basically this airlines may scam you so beware and do not trust them.

01/07/2024 Flight GF6 2 hours flight delayed then airplane came back to Heathrow and Gulf Air didn’t know what was going on. Next day flight had to wait in airport then after 24 hours again flight late 2 hours. Missed connecting flight in fact 1 flight sent early by 10 minutes so London flight passengers can’t get on it. Then stayed in hotel in Bahrain took 3 days get to final destination. What a rubbish airline and its poor service. No communication airline passengers and families. Customer service contact have no information what is going on in Heathrow until many hours later. What a joke this airline.

Scammed by flight boarding staff and made to pay 280GBP, sent receipt with wrong amount charged which meant the staff pocketed the money we paid. My mother is a wheel chair user and they caused her a lot of distress by being extremely rude, pointing at her and speaking a language we never even understood. There was five staff members shouting at us and made us feel so panicked which was horrible and would be for anyone flying, just trying to get onto a flight. I wouldn’t recommend flying with gulf air unless you want to be scammed or charged for following all instructions on your plane ticket .
Gulf Air has become SHI** to say the least
What can I say. They use a shi** handling company called ASC Handling, who don't give a shi** either, as they just blame each other.
To be charged a handling fee of £15, per extra bag that I checked in, is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY, to say the least.
When I enquired this with an IDIOT OF MANAGER REPRESENTING ASC HANDLING, COULDN'T GIVE A TOSS AT ALL.
ARROGANT, INTIMIDATING AND VERY RUDE, told me that "we are not Gulf Air", thus we need to charge rob the money from you.
GULF AIR, on the other hand, have ROBOTS sitting on the end of the phones, their highly paid, useless fat-cat managers, who don't have the time to talk to tier customers, simply read from a script, and every single one of the agents, simply told me to raise a complaint/ feedback.
I raised a complaint on 12 July 2024, via Resolver, and to date, I have not even had a courtesy of an email/ phone call acknowledging my complaint.
5 Star, Tri-star…….not any more, Avoid.
Once upon a time, Gulf Air was a good quality airline, 5 star tri-star was their motto. I flew with them hundreds of times. Recently (2023) I flew with them again. They are no longer 5 star and even 2 star is being generous. The wonderful crew of old have been replaced with cheap far east workers whose only skill seemed to be the ability to avoid your eye when trying to get their attention. The plane was run down and not clean which was surprising as it was not an old plane. The connecting flight, also Gulf Air was cancelled and we had a 7 hour wait in Bahrain. Compensation was a meal voucher that most airport restaurants did not accept. The Gulf Air airport staff simply shrugged their shoulders and treated us like a massive inconvenience to them. I’ve flown some budget airlines in my time and all of them offered better service than I experienced with Gulf Air. I so wanted them to be better, especially after singing their praises prior to travel. Such a shame. My advice, avoid where possible.

Bunch of crooks sitting in their Karachi Office, my bag was lost and no body actioned on this. When I started ringing emailing to them then they activated and found my bag 2months after. They probably running a racket where they stored one or two bags from each flights keep it in storage and then sell when no enquiries made against the bag. Pathetic service after 2 month I had to chase everyday and they dumped my bag at manchester airport I had to go there to pick up. No compensation whatsoever paid against all the international airline rules. And after all this showing attitude atleast we are giving your bag. Very very disappointing. Theives at Karachi Airport.

We had few flights with gulf as we travelled to Turkey-Europe from Jeddah. I think we took total 4 flights and each were nothing less than tortures. All the crews and and their seniors are horrendous and plain disgusting. I had a little child with hidden disability and they have showed utmost disrespect to that. We had paperworks from Australia as she has anxiety and non-verbal. Every other flights Turkish Airlines, Flynas, China Southern showed utmost respect and allowed her without seatbelts as she goes into meltdown and then seizures if she is pushed to be strained with a seatbelt. She was calm and fine in all the flights except in gulf air as they pushed her to be strapped during take off and landing. We requested that we have to take the risk but we can't afford a seizure on flight. They have forced us to do that and then hours of going through the trauma to calm her down. They have done this to every flights. They have to understand disability. They have to understand why sunflower lanyards are used. They simply were so rude and said, "strap her or we won't fly. The pilot won't fly the plane." They have used remarks, "Be the parents, do it!" In my entire life, I would vouch to people to skip this airlines. There was one senior crew from Turkey to Jeddah flight and he literally started fighting with another customer as the customer got disgusted by his behaviour and screamed "you can't talk to me like that!" They need to fire these kind of crews or train them how to provide customer service. Last but not the least, learn how to show empathy, care and accommodate with people's disability. Without change, the airlines might also extinct like dinosour!

It's clear that Gulf Air lacks the efficiency and professionalism needed to handle such matters promptly and effectively.
The lack of communication and accountability from Gulf Air's customer service team is equally disappointing. Instead of providing updates and addressing my concerns, they have consistently brushed me off and shown a blatant disregard for my rights as a passenger. It's unacceptable that Gulf Air expects customers to endure such inconvenience and frustration without offering any meaningful resolution.
Overall, my experience with Gulf Air has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. From the mishandling of my luggage to the ongoing delays in compensation, it's evident that Gulf Air prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction. I would strongly advise against flying with Gulf Air if you value your belongings and expect timely and reliable service. Save yourself the headache and choose an airline that truly cares about its passengers
