I have a savings account with HL. One into which I paid money. I needed some out and the when I went to get it the webpage said register a nominated bank account. I tried but the webpage said ring HL. I did. Could they help - no. Were they understanding. NO! I complained, no empathy but a very long story about what they wanted and needed. Nice! I eventually get a link for a service to MIKET. A visial scan, passport upload, written bill - not easy these days. Miket tell me they will assess me and in about 4-5 days might tell HL whether the process has been sucessful at which stage I guess I get my money. I need to stress, no name change, had accounts with HL over a decade. Money sent from the account to HL. When I replied to their pompous reply to my complaint that periodically they simply no longer recognise their clients that it might be a good idea to tell us they disengaged. I am now forced to take money out of equities which a we know are volatile. Direct cost minimum £500. Get out of this company fast - we are meant to pay higher fees for better service. LAUGHABLE

Changing the fees for funds just before the tax year ends is highly questionable behavior. I have zero interest in the reduced dealing fees for stocks—and I doubt many other ISA customers do either. Your ongoing account fees are already high enough without these extra charges creeping in. Please go back to the old pricing model or do better.

We set up a trust for my daughter for when she's 18 to get a few thousand to give her a start in life. Atho the amount was below probate they have thrown so much paper work at us which we have given them the answers MULTIBLE times its now been 2 half years what should of been a loving ❤️ gift they have turned into a living nightmare. . What you see in the reply is what we have put up with for years. My daughter knows your number off by heart and every other means of communication. An octopus 🐙 couldn't count how many suckers are victim of the moral bankruptcy that stands behind so called complex policy

In my experience, a recent outage affecting Hargreaves Lansdown raised concerns about reliability and communication.
During the incident, I was unable to log in, access my account, or place trades for a prolonged period. This meant I could not act on my investments when I needed to.
What stood out was the level of communication. Updates during the outage were limited, with little clarity on the nature of the issue or when service would be restored. There has also been no clear post-incident explanation.
For a platform used to manage investments, the ability to access and execute trades is fundamental. Incidents like this highlight the importance of operational resilience and clear, timely communication when issues arise.
Separately, based on prior experiences, I have referred other matters to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Others affected may wish to consider their options if they believe they have been impacted.

I recently set-up a cash ISA and needed to make an emergency withdrawal. Initially it was a stressful process as I couldn't withdraw the cash until I'd verified my address - something that wasn't made very obvious at the time of address change or when trying to add my bank account details to my HL account. It only became apparent when I called HL.
My 5 star review is for the two customer service agents who helped to get the verification through super quickly. I appreciate the swift response by the review team as well, and I was able to access my money very quickly. Thank you.

HL are generally responsive when getting in touch by email or phone. Some of their policies seem somewhat paternalistic such as the testing on so called sophisticated investments or their slowness in making more so called risky investments available to their clients. I guess as a mainstream brokerage with active savings also available they do a pretty comprehensive job. I think when spreading one’s risk, this also includes using other platforms besides HL, though HL gives assurances that they are comprehensively covered by various government regulations etc.
