Huobi 

I am relatively new to crypto and haven't used exchanges much. I normally buy BTC, ETH or LTC from a convenient Bitcoin ATM. I have a few different wallets for the different cryptos. Anyway, the story with Huobi Global:
I used the platform once or twice a few weeks ago and successfully deposited some ETH and exchanged to DOGE and to BTC and withdrew my money to wallet and everything went without a problem. Without giving out personal info, just the email registration and it worked fine.
The other day however, I deposited around 100 Euro worth of ETH and exchanged to XMR and suddenly the platform wouldn't let me withdraw to my wallet.
When I contacted the customer service, they forced me to provide a stupid prisoner type of selfie with my ID card and another piece of paper, which felt ridiculous and wrong, but I did it, because I didn't want to lose my money. Well that wasn't enough for them apparently, now they want some sort of proof of origin of my ETH because of "abnormal activity". Which must be that I use a VPN service so that's why it seems 'suspisious' to them I guess. Since I don't have the receipt from the Bitcoin ATM because I didn't keep it, I have no way to prove the origin of my crypto and feel like I've lost my money forever on the Huobi platform.
My funds are stuck there from 3 days and it doesn't look like they're unlocking my account. I can see my balance, but cannot use it in any way. I wish I had seen these reviews before, but I thought Huobi was one of the main crypto exchanges and since the first time things were fine I reckoned I could trust them again, but that was a mistake. It is fine to get charged fees for exchanging your crypto, but this locking of funds and extortion of personal info is fundamentally wrong. They are thieves and represent everything that crypto was meant to disrupt and fight. KYC and personal info extortion is the path to centralization and control, contrary to decentralization and freedom. Beware and look for other ways to exchange your cryptocurrencies, like atomic swaps. I am exploring these myself. I guess experience is the best teacher so maybe I should thank those crooks. If that happened to me with 150 dollars worth of crypto, I don't know how people trust Huobi or other centralized exchanges with thousands and more.

I KYCd and everything went fine. After that I've deposited and after some time I wanted to withdraw but they started requesting one document, two documents, a photograph with hand written on piece of paper, proofs of transactions from MetaMask and proofs of transactions from Binance. I'm still waiting to withdraw those tokens.

Disgusting company who steal Bitcoin. A user I know accidently deposited Bitcoin to Huobi, Huobi verified they received it but refused to return it for almost a year now. Do NOT deal with these company, they are nothing more than thieves.

Be careful, the first transaction will be easy, whithdrawal too. But after the first one, they locked your withdrawal with a lot of KYC and things to do... They want to know everything, I gave all they want but I had never my money back, it's a real scammer platform.

It's a good exchange. It is possible to use all the functionality of the service, regardless of the operating system used but a very complicated identity verification procedure.

The exchange process was a nightmare. I won't exchange again !

Overall, Huobi offers an elevated exchange experience that lives up to its high-flying reputation as one of crypto’s best exchanges. It’s not easy to impress when it comes to exchanges but Huobi does exactly that with its instant customer service, fast and smooth user interface, and highly secure exchange with a litany of options for protecting your account.

About the only thing that’s not to like is that some aspects of the exchange are quite confusing. The excess of domain names and complicated presentation of its VIP memberships against Huobi Token make it difficult to parse through which is the best option. It’s odd that Huobi even bothers with VIP membership at all when it can simply roll all those benefits into owning HT at different tiers (like Binance does).

Despite those shortcomings, Huobi delivers where it counts and gives us access to tokens from the Asian market that we wouldn’t otherwise feel comfortable trading.

The exchange is generally good, just sometimes the support is not very good, probably because of the language barrier. The withdrawals are fast, and never had any problems with withdrawing from the exchange. Good trading options.

So bad Company they don’t follow the international rules about to verify a payee (receiver) of a money transfer.

That is a normal standard to do In law so a money transfer can be tracked if it turns out that the receiver in my case A fake broker was scam and fraud company.

I asked Huobi about to tell me who in the world they send my money to - they can’t tell they say because they don’t have the ID and verification from the receiver - a normal
International rule and law to verify BOTH according to law.. Huobi just send people to police and run away from there responsibility as a money transfer company really bad

I have registered to Huobi to buy Nexo tokens at the lowest price.

I have found the exchange experience fast and easy and the deposit and withdrawal minimum amounts are reasonably low.

What has made me rate 1 star lower is the customer service:
it is prominently a Chinese driven business so the language barrier is quite annoying sometimes but all issues can be solved with some patience.

Fees are extremely high compared to other exchanges. Otherwise it is a solid platform but with fees this high it is not fun trading.

Not good - not too bad, just an average crypto exchange.

Unless you have the patience of a saint DO NOT USE HUOBI GLOBAL!!!!! A simple etheureum deposit requires 2200 confirmations which could take well over six hours and the support team is terrible. I've never waited this long for an eth transaction, its ridiculous.
