My Brother and sister-in-law booked spa break for my birthday. Check in was fine. Bar and restaurant staff were lovely. However my sister-in-laws spa experience was shocking. The lady doing her t... See more

Money grabbing without class
We arrived at the Kilhey Hotel very late on a Friday night with two kids, having seen on Booking.com that there was space with a final quote of £194. We didn't just book as we had a couple of questions so turned up with the quote at reception. They obviously realised that we, and our kids, were very tired as they put the price up to £325 and we were told they absolutely wouldn't honour the booking.com price even if we booked it there and then.
With little choice in the middle of nowhere we paid the extortionate rate and stayed. I really wish we hadn't. Our whole side of the hotel stank of weed, the rooms were in a state of disrepair and the walls paper thin. We were awake until gone 3am with people banging and shouting in the hallways.
We spoke to reception staff in the morning and were told there was no one who could help us with our complaint, but -sounding very sympathetic - we were promised a call on the Monday by an operations manager. No call has ever been attempted and this place clearly don't care. Next time we'll find a Holiday Inn
Worst hotel we've ever been to

Give the Botley Park Hotel in…
Give the Botley Park Hotel in Southampton a miss.
The changing rooms for the spa stunk of sewage. We reported it to 2 members of staff who done nothing.
I have emailed the hotel twice as well but they have not had the decency to reply , also the sauna was closed and the pool was FULL of dive bombing kids. Not the peaceful spa break we hoped for. Also no towel bin for used towels. Not a nice place tbh , Should inform Environmental Health
Review for Linden Hall hotel
Review for Linden Hall hotel. Day 1 review, golf course pretty good, great par 3’s, all really nice.
Restaurant full so opted for bar restaurant and OMG what a mistake!!
No organisation or leadership, staff ‘white shirts/blouses’ filthy, grey and encrusted in old food and make up at 7pm so nothing to do with a full shift. Took 45 mins to serve soup, chicken wings (£9.00) mircrowaved soggy with cold dreadfull ‘blue cheese’ sauce. Main was a burger (£18.00), frozen mass purchased and poor quality, would have expected more from Asda…. Overall just dreadful and a real let down compared to other hotels in this group.
Macdonald Highland Hotel let down!
Macdonald Highland Hotel.
Day one of a three day stay, a "deluxe room" where the WiFi might work, then again, might not! Why is it that reception make me feel like a liar? Not impressed at all so far! "If anyone else complains I'll get it checked" Really????
Excellent stay at macdonald elmers…
Excellent stay at macdonald elmers court resort in self catering studio. Superbly well appointed kitchen, and living/dining area. Gardens and facilities generally well up to standard - main difference from Algarve is potential weather and fewer dining and bar outlets on site. Depends what you want/expect. Very relaxing and well organised. Quite honestly had not expected anything as good - and price very reasonable.
Elmers court Macdonalds Hotel
Our son purchase a buy-a-gift voucher for a spa day at the Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel in Lymington. My wife arranged the booking through email and had it confirmed but on arrival we were advised that there was no booking. Initially no alternative was offered, not even an alternative date which would mean my wife and I arranging another annual leave day. Eventually, a senior member of staff was brought in to discuss the mistake made by their team and finally we received an apology although her description of they say they’d had was not warranted explaining what a bad day they had had and that one of the spa staff had called in sick. All that was needed was an apology and a rearranged booking which we did get sorted out eventually. I am not sure what has happened to Elmers court since Macdonalds took over but everything has gone downhill. The quality of service is just one problem but I will not go on about the condition and standards that have left so disappointed over the last 10 years or so. We had our wedding reception there in 1997 and there has been no positive changes that we can see since.
Booked a SPA day for two for my…
Booked a SPA day for two for my daughter's birthday weekend tomorrow, I originally booked with Buyagift but date then become unavailable after purchase, we booked again with Spa seekers and date again accepted £214 to ensure I didn't lose more money I called hotel to confirm receipt to be met with a very hostile lady who complained the SPA was full and shouldn't be allowed to book and huffed and puffed they would have to fit us in. I called again yesterday as not heard from the hotel as promised to be told by a much nicer lady that we were booked in for 10am both together as package was for two. My daughter received a call this morning to say we want to remind you that you are coming tomorrow one of you at 9am and one of you at 10am??? I called back to say no this is for a couple and 10am she advised that they had a staff shortage and they have moved us to separate treatments otherwise we get cancelled or moved to a new date!!!! She then went on to tell me that it doesn't matter as I get to spend the rest of the day with my daughter.....It does matter one of us has to travel earlier to a 9am treatment and the other an hour later leaving one of us hanging around solo for an hour or so and the whole idea was to do it together!!! Annoyed as this was not discounted and not a cheap SPA day, no compensation offered at all and a bad attitude to basically tell us to accept it or move it.
Very poor breakfast
Very poor breakfast, at £26 I'd expect quality!
Ordered fried egg. It came with an overcooked poached one!
Sausage was of cheap quality!
Toast had to be requested, and 2 slices were so hard they'd break a tooth!
They should refund the cost of breakfasts!
AWFUL EXPERIENCE
Macdonalds Bereystede Ascot have no grounds for compassion or sickness.
I was bought a Buyagift voucher for 2 people SPA day a facial with afternoon tea for christmas at Macdonald Berystede Ascot. I was so excited to go so got it booked. Sadly I fell ill and had to rearrange twice, because it turned out i needed surgery! So now I am feeling better I tried to rebook it, and Madonalds will not allow me to go, and refer me back to Buygift. Buyagift have told me that it is the hotel and not them that is to blame and offered me less money back. RIP OFF Bereystede no one answers the phone either not Spa or hotel reception only emails. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE
Crutherland house and spa
Myself and my friend were at the crutherland house and spa for an indulgence day and overnite stay and I would like to say a special thanks to Victoria in the spa who was very knowledgeable on all the treatments and help me pick the perfect treatment for me and also to clare in the bar who went over and above to make our visit to the bar a lovely experience even although we were the only people in the bar.
Crutherland House hotel & Spa …
Myself & a friend had a spa overnight at Crutherland House, East Kilbride & the service from all staff was excellent. From meeting us at the reception, spa treatments, afternoon tea & dinner in the restaurant at night! All were exceptionally friendly polite & professional. A special mention to Clare in the bar for making us wonderful cocktails & Justina in the spa for an amazing treatment. Thank you all for a wonderful relaxing experience.

Don’t join McDonald gyms - dishonest
Alveston manor told me my gym membership was cancelled in March 22 as we moved house, but have since refused to refund the 6 months left. I spoke to Ben Orton Leisure Manager, who just denies everything, and eventually complained to Paul Newman the General Manager who promised to investigate and get back to me November 22 and have heard nothing since. Don’t join the gym, it’s empty, run down and the management team are dishonest
Ruined day
Houstoun House. The massage was very nice but the experience was negative, as the service was terrible. As soon as we went to the reception at the indicated time, we immediately received a reproach that we did not arrive 15 minutes earlier. They claimed that they left a voicemail that we need to arrive 15 minutes before appointment, but it was not mentioned in the voicemail. we paid for the full service but after the massage they wanted to send us home. Already after we complained we were provided with a full service but the whole day and the mood was ruined. Maintenance staff is incompetent.
Was left with no pillows all night
Was left with no pillows all night! Many an issue and waited for manager to phone me… they didn’t…. I’ve since emailed and no reply from manager.
Worst hotel night ever!
Website aimed at market their products…
Website aimed at marketing their products - no useful information. Hotel (Forest Hills) worn and tired, very poorly managed. Communication very poor, from basic confirmation email, to the information from reception at the hotel. Seriously understaffed, and poorly maintained. Most staff try very hard, but no visible senior management support. I'd avoid this lot like the plague - overpriced and oversold!
Generally satisfactory `
Generally satisfactory and although the staff are friendly & helpful they are clearly reactive and don't seem to see the obvious - like a sticking door or no coffee for the machine. Or that the coffee machine doesn't work anyway..
No proper lighting on 5th floor - just emergency lighting and an iPhone torch.
The list was minor but went on and on and on
Worst Hotel Stay Ever!
'Deluxe' room was dirty and in a terrible condition. Paint peeling everywhere. Bathroom old and dirty. Carpets rotten. Bed squeaked every time you moved. All this for nearly £300 per night!
Complained and got told all of the rooms are of a similar standard. This was evidenced by moving to the room next door which was equally as bad.
Appalling quality of food and neglectful service
On first arrival to the Bath Spa hotel me and my 2 girlfriends were impressed. We were celebrating my friends special birthday. When entering I found the hotel to be clean and pleasant. Staff were friendly and helpful when asked for directions to the spa area. The spa reception team were informative, friendly and helpful.
The facilities are somewhat tired, very small changing area, not enough bench space to rest belongings when changing.
Showers mouldy.
Indoor pool pleasant and relaxing. Outdoor, broken tiles and looking a little shabby. But all and all relaxing.
The salt sauna wasn’t working, but no note or explanation for this.
We had a arrived quite early to enjoy our spa day so by 11.15 am we were feeling a little peckish, we did have afternoon tea booked for 3 pm but it seemed a long way away. We asked at the spa reception if we could order food from the bar area. We were told as it was early we could only order sandwiches. That was fine.
But when you pay £15 for a sandwich, one would expect a certain quality of ingredients. It was far from what I expected, so awful infact we had to complain and send them back. Absolutely appalling. We also waited over an hour for them to arrive, which massively cut into our spa experience. And we were still hungry. The server we had spoken to regarding this issue was very understanding and brought some banana bread to keep us going. She did remove the sandwiches and take them off of our bill.
We had treatments booked for 12.30pm. These treatments were lovely. The spa staff/therapists were brilliant. No fault there. Lovely Elemis products.
The resting room after was very nice, very relaxing and inviting, offering a range of herbal teas and cold water.
Afternoon tea.. well, the cakes were lovely, nice selection. The sandwiches again were a lot to be desired. It’s not that difficult. Also there was definitely not enough for 3 people. The service was neglectful.
It was a terrible shame. There seemed to be alot of staff milling around but none meeting our needs.
This was very disappointing for my friend who had been really looking forward to this.
I would definitely not recommend this facility for an afternoon tea treat.
We were promised something a bit extra because of it being a special celebration. Sadly we weren’t even given the normal level of service you would expect from such an establishment.
The therapist and spa staff is the only reason I gave any stars. Real shame.
