I came to Monaco Solicitors after my employment ended in circumstances I was not prepared to simply accept. What was first put on the table by my employer was, to put it politely, token. By the end of the process it had moved to something I was content to sign.

The number mattered, but what I valued more was how it was handled. Everything was explained to me in plain English, without the hedging you often get from lawyers. When the right move was to do nothing and wait, I was told to wait — nobody was manufacturing work to justify a bill. When I wanted to push on a point that mattered to me personally rather than financially, it was taken seriously and thought about properly, and I got a straight answer about what was realistic and what was not. That honesty was worth a great deal, because it let me make my own decisions instead of guessing.

The fee is a percentage of the increase achieved, so the incentives pointed the same way as mine from the first day, and I always knew exactly what I would be paying and why.

Losing a job you have held for years is a horrible thing to go through, and it is very hard to think clearly while it is happening. Having someone calm, responsive and honest about the odds made an enormous difference to how I came out of it. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I instructed Monaco Solicitors on a no win, no fee basis for an employment matter. Before they became involved, I had already organised all of my evidence and correspondence into a clear, structured file, so they had everything they needed from the outset.

At the beginning, I was offered two pricing options: a 25% AI-assisted service with no direct access to a solicitor, or a 35% solicitor-led service that included direct communication with a solicitor. I deliberately chose the 35% option because I wanted direct support from a solicitor rather than communicating through AI.

Unfortunately, that is not what I experienced. Throughout almost the entire four-month period, the vast majority of my communication was with their AI chatbot rather than with my solicitor. Despite specifically requesting a telephone call, no call was arranged. It was only after I raised the issue that I started receiving direct email responses.

As a result, I paid the higher 35% fee for what, in practice, felt much closer to the lower-cost AI-assisted service. The main reason I chose the more expensive option—direct access to a solicitor—was largely absent from my experience.

The case proceeded to the end of my employment, but the underlying issues that led to the dispute were not resolved in my favour. The agreed reference I received was, in my opinion, weak and did not meaningfully address the concerns that had given rise to the dispute in the first place.

Overall, I was disappointed with both the level of communication and the value I received for the fee charged. If you are considering the 35% solicitor-led option because you expect regular, direct contact with a solicitor, I would recommend clarifying exactly how much of your case will actually be handled by a solicitor rather than through their AI system

They have a type of AI legal secretary that you can spend your time with going over the particulars of the case at your own pace. No need to pay billable hours for it! this then gives you a summary of the case that you can read over and make changes to before submitting to the solicitor which was amazing because my case was particularly complex.
