Moneygram advertise no hidden fee , yet provide option to receive money in local currency. When trying to receive the transfer, all local agents will refuse to pay in local currency and you will be forced to cancel and change the transaction. This will lead to fees that money gram refuse to refund. I WOULD NOT USE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN

Garbage service
Garbage service, garbage customer treatment, garbage app. I sent money to my brother, the employee in one of their branches sent it without asking me in which currency the receiver should receive them. I told him you should have asked, you sent it in the wrong currency the receiver won't be able to receive it to which he replied "well I cannot change it it is already sent". I contacted their garbage customer support after a struggle to reach a human being bypassing their garbage AI chat the guy in the support told me I have to contact them by phone, I asked what are the god damn numbers I have to call as this garbage shady scammy company doesn't publish phone numbers, he gave me 2 phone numbers that don't work, I told me THE NUMBERS ARE NOT EVEN AVAILABLE AND DON'T WORK. To which he replied "you have to use this website" and he gave me callmoneygram.com or some shit like that, I used it and entered my mobile number and guess who called me, A BOT AGAINNN. I went through this shit and typed what I was instructed to type and final stage was "OH SORRY WE ARE EXPERIENCING MORE THAN USUAL PHONE CALLS PLEASE USE THE CHAT SERVICE TO GET A FASTER REPLY. AND THAT IS IT. WON'T USE THIS GARBAGE SERVICE EVER AGAIN.

Too much of an ask of information
I was very happy with using Moneygram for many years to transfer money to a relative until yesterday when the platform required me to upload a photo of either a passport, driver's license, or other government ID. Their claim for this invasion of privacy is to counter money laundering. So, they are going to collect your private information in the form of ID, including photo, on their computer system and we are supposed to trust that this is secure? Not a chance. There is no way I am uploading an image of my personal ID to any commercial platform. I took my business to another well-known money transfer company and they did not have this invasive requirement. After all, I am entering a debit card for payment! Good-bye Moneygram.

Blocked account, no explanation
My account was blocked with no explanation, customer service cannot help. This was after I spent over an hour trying to send a transfer to someone. I was using a Canadian passport as verification and sending funds from Canada.
Updated to add: I was told to go to a Moneygram location to do my transfer, but the agent failed to inform me of limits at Moneygram locations. More time wasted.
If you've ever moved country, have a PO box, or are sending money to a country that is not in the Global North, then find a different platform as you are likely to waste hours on this one only to be suddenly banned from the site with no explanation.

Avoid MoneyGram—Incompetent AI and Zero Human Support
Made a transfer in the morning and received a transaction acknowledgement. Checked my account two hours later, only to see "Not Processed – Information Pending," advising me to check my email.
I received no email. When I submitted a progress update with my reference number, I got a canned AI response claiming the transaction didn't exist. I then filed a formal complaint with a screenshot of the transaction directly from my logged-in account. The reply? Another clueless AI asking "the sender" to contact MoneyGram—completely failing to realize I am the sender using the account's registered email.
There is no phone number for real support. The only option left is to cancel, which takes up to 14 days to refund my money. A completely substandard operation run entirely by useless AI. Save yourself the headache and use a transfer service that actually processes payments in 30 minutes.
