Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 214 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complain about significantly delayed or completely missed deliveries, noting that drivers often leave notification cards without actually attempting to deliver packages at the door. Many individuals also state that items are frequently lost in transit, while customer support representatives prove completely unhelpful when trying to resolve these frustrating problems. Though some reviewers experienced severe problems, a few consumers found the local staff to be genuinely helpful and friendly during their visits. These individuals also mentioned receiving fast, reliable service and efficient deliveries from dedicated local drivers on certain positive occasions.

Hillmorton Post Office counter in the pharmacy - run by a lady called George.

Picture this- rushing in stressing over a over seas document trying to get it done while juggling the busy life that is the reality these days.

George was helpful and friendly - thank you tiny post office locations!

While there I signed a petition to request that these little gems stay open - I could not of got into town.

THANKYOU George <3

10/10 NOT recommended - use another courier company

Parcel collected from sender, who is at Auckland Airport, sat for three days up there waiting for shipping to Christchurch. Now it's been sitting in Christchurch for two days awaiting delivery in another four days apparently - we live 20mins from the NZ Post base... Shit service quite frankly. It shouldn't take over a week to get from Auckland to Christchurch, especially when we literally hear the freighter fly over us every night.

When our local driver started stalking…

When our local driver started stalking my son and withholding packages to make him to talk to him, then started pretending to delivery them to other people I contacted NZ Post to lay a complaint. Since then I have learned that a complaint was never laid and they are still allowing this man to delay our items, sometimes sending them back to the depot many times over. This is just a small apart of what he has done. Do not want my name attached to this in case he reads it.

Waiting on an urgent parcel

I had a parcel redirected at 8.30am on 29th December owing to an incorrect address.

Confirmation was confirmed about the redirection request at 8.33am on 29th Dec.

My parcel was processed at the depot at 8.48am on 29th Dec.

It was processed again at 4.49am on 30th Dec.

It was again processes at the depot at 3.01pm on 30th Dec.

The tracking said the parcel was delayed at 4.00pm on 30th Dec.

It was processed again on 31st Dec at 1.51pm

How could we receive such shocking service, and I still have not got my parcel.

Follow up on my parcel.

It was transferred to the Naper depot not sure what date. Now it has gone back to Wellington. Can you believe this.

2nd redirection notice requested at 11.56am on 5th January.

Latest notification on tracking:
Processed at the Grenada Village depot in Wellington at 3.18am on 6th January.

Just heard from the investigator. The parcel was still sitting on the belt and had not been relabeled this morning. It has now been physically taken off the belt and relabeled will go to Napier this evening.

Could have been sitting on the belt for days if this particular investigator had not got involved. Days ago, it was supposed to go to another investigator I have his name, he did nothing. I could possibly get this parcel tomorrow who knows.

Update - Wednesday 7th January 2026 I received my parcel today. If Sharn from NZ Post had not got involved as an investigator, I would still be waiting for it to be delivered. Thank you so much Sharn. We were allocated another investigator days ago that did nothing. 5 stars for Sharn only definitely not NZ Post.

The delivery service is extremely poor and cannot be called a service, more like a disservice. The inefficiency is astounding and in all honesty I cannot find anything good to say about New Zealand Post when it comes to delivering parcels.

Awesome

Awesome: I cannot speak highly enough of NZ Post. Nice friendly local driver, he knows us by name, that our son lives next door and is quite happy for either of us to sign deliveries. Local depot to our home is always on the very next cycle in under 2 hours every time and overnight to all the major centres.
Over the Christmas break I recently sent a box Auckland to Wellington. I accidentally booked the pickup for Monday the following week, instead of the same day, I phoned in to correct it, got a lovely lady on the phone who said she would alert our courier. It was picked up within two hours. The customer support lady even rang me back to say it would be picked up same day, it was already gone. The parcel arrived at the buyer in Wellington the following day. Also I have a customer who supplies NZ Post return tickets with their products I photograph. Booking the pickup is done on a non-login form, that remembers all my inputs so each time I don’t need to go over it again, just enter the ticket number and click submit, their tracking form is on the home page for goodness sake, how good is that. 5stars And I’ve been using couriers for over 40years.

Navjot Singh ...

Navjot Singh is a lovely man with a professional friendly manner.

He is very approachable in regards to any question I may have. Always gives a smile and we have no issues with his deliveries/pickups.

Great Service

Thrice they have disappointed me.

Thrice they have disappointed me.

1. One time I sent a package to my home country, and because I was new to NZ, I didn't know it was much cheaper to make the booking online than in person (which makes no sense as they have the same amount of work - I think they have to type just a couple of extra stuff but it took like 2 minutes? A 20 dollar difference, really?). But this isn't even my complaint! The issued lied on them giving me the smallest sheet of paper I've ever seen to write the details, the computer not being able to read it (because the people in the counter didn't bother to check if everything was ok) so a lot of information was missing because the machine couldn't read the small letters/numbers of the paper! Because of that the customs in my country had to send me an email asking for the remaining information and I had to pay an extra fee of 20 euros (40 dollars) because of the incompetence of NZ post!

2. One time I was expecting a package from my dad to arrive and it was delayed so I went to NZ post to ask for more info. They coldly told me I had to make a complaint online. That's it? My dad went to his local post office and they gave him information of all the places the package had been and they were super helpful and kind. C'mon NZ post! After I made a complaint, it took them over a week to reply... In the meantime the package had arrived. How useless.

3. Just a week ago, They broke my what was inside my package and refused to pay me back even with evidence of how well packaged it was (multiple layers of bubble wrap inside a box). They claimed the box probably was faulty from the get go because and this is stupid. I used paper to surround a portion of the box as it was a bit damaged with ink. And they claim the box was unfit because I used paper and the box wasn't structurally sound. Please.... I used so much wrapping paper. And a box... It had to be mishandled really bad. But no its my fault. They lost a customer over $35

I'm genuinely appalled of how poorly they treated me so far and I don't use them very often. I use other companies. Now I'll avoid them even more!

Post courier never rings and I stay home for the delivery all the time

Hamilton CBD. When I first moved to my apartment complex, I never had an issue with our NZ Post person using the bell to ring us when we have a package. We're not a big complex, the same amount of apartments as a duplex essentially. I've never asked them to come into the building, I always go down and get it within seconds of it being rung. There was unexpected road maintenance that stopped access to our road a bit ago and all of a sudden the courier stopped delivering entirely. Doesn't even attempt to ring the bell, he seems to preemptively write the "sorry we missed you" cards and leaves them in our boxes. I have no car, I'm disabled, and my son is autistic and it's hard to get him to commute to the nearest post pick up location. I don't understand what's changed. I tried to report the change to their customer service, they said they'd talk to the local dispatch that was responsible for his route, but nothing happened and nothing's improved. Now that it's summer, it's especially hard to go to the pick up with how hot it is, or when it's so rainy. Or if a package is weighty, or it's in my spouse's name and he's working during the hours the place is open. I'm home all the time and constantly get the notification that I've missed the package but I've been right here and literally watched the dude's van just.. drive by. Now my son is going to miss his Christmas gifts because my spouse can't pick up the package until the weekend but I was literally here to get it. I don't understand what the difference is from knocking on a door, but judging by others experiences, I suppose this isn't unusual, they just don't care.

Absolute shocking service from them as…

Absolute shocking service from them as many others have said. Waiting 3-4 weeks for a letter and never got it. Had to cancel the card and get another sent for replacement. This is not the first time I have had bad service from them. Had many over the years with lost packages. They clearly don't care about the public or take responsibility for anything. Ideally they shouldn't be operating in my view. Or have a complete overhaul of all there practices. Worst in the world in my opinion

NEVER use the Parcel Pickup service. EVER.

Booked a Book-A-Pickup for the first time to send an item to the north island.
An easy job: you box up a parcel, write the shipping info, name, and tracking number clearly on the box, the mailman collects the item, prints and slaps a tracking barcode on it, and away it goes.
I used the service for the first time ever, the pickup is a day late, and they manage to LOSE THE PARCEL before it even makes it to the local Depot.
Tracking is un-updated and claims to still be awaiting pickup a week later, despite WATCHING the local courier collecting it. And now not even NZ Post or ANY representative knows where it is, with ONCE-PER-DAY email responses. I've visited the depot, post offices, headquarters, countless calls, emails, and still, they are clueless and have zero idea as to where it is.
Their negligence and failure to carry out such a common task will be the result of a poor kids ruined Christmas.
If you want your item delivered reliably, you're better off hitchhiking the damn item up the country yourself.
