I bought a prebuilt pc for $5775.00 at the end of 2021 and I did not know jack shit about computers so I thought wow this is great. I began having issues with it a year and a half to 2 years later and I ignored them for a while. It was just a random blue screen that happened once every few weeks. It got to the point where I was getting pissed off with it so I sent it to someone to get checked out. straight away he pinpointed what would be causing the blue screen and went about fixing it. This guy explained everything he did and included photos as he went.
To start with the ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC LHR 10GB that was put in the computer didn't have a support bracket which has caused the card to warp over time and damage both itself and the pci port on the motherboard. A simple 10-25$ support bracket would have stopped this but again I had no idea about computer hardware. The pc has a Intel Core i9 11900K Processor and they put a Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240R ARGB AIO Cooler which is not sufficient for that core if load is being put on it and this was bought for gaming so guess what? There was plenty of load on the cpu. the pump head wore out extremely fast from being on full power constantly to try and keep the cpu cool.
Just doing a google search of 'should this graphics card have a support bracket' comes up with that it's highly recommended for it due to its size and weight.
I got in contact with pc casegears support about it and I was told that the cooling unit was fine for it and it was due to lack of maintenance that the head had worn out.
'Regarding the GPU sag, since your graphics card did not come with an anti-sag bracket, this means it’s not heavy enough to necessitate one. That said, over time, several factors can contribute to GPU sag worsening, such as frequent moving of the PC, vibration, or insufficient internal maintenance. These can cause the card to gradually droop, leading to the kind of issues you’ve described.' <-- That is directly from the reply from pc casegear. Like I said a simple google will say that it is highly recommended that it has a support bracket but apparently the sag is from lack of maintenance.
I brought up that it was a technician that found these issues and was told by pc casegear support not to listen to him that he was trying to upsell me on parts and than right after that pc casegear was like 'If you let us know what parts you're after we may be able to help you with a discount' Sounds a bit like an upsell to me. the technician that has helped me with my pc I originally asked him to just replace the parts and he actually refused and went through testing the different parts that may have been causing the issue. There is still damage to my graphics card from the sag and the pci port on the motherboard but currently they are still useable but will need replacing in the near future.
All in all do not buy pre-built computers from pc casegear. They will sell you crap that is made to not last so that you will have to buy replacement parts and blame you for the damage.
Fantastic. Best service ANYWHERE
PC Case Gear's service is impeccable. Where other custom PC shops failed me with poor service, these guys excelled. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who were happy to help. Stock arrived on time and within 24 hours after that, they had built and shipped it. Super impressed, I highly recommend. PS: Thank you for the gummy bears :)
Amazing, transparent and responsive.
My original order was prompt. There was no fluffing or un necessary added steps.
Everything was delivered faster than ebay, beautifully packaged and they are extremely responsive when help is needed.
I needed a warrenty claim on a cpu (manufacturer issue), a simple email and it was set in motion with paid postage. No jumping through hoops, no trying to wiggle out of it. They simply sent a postage stamp and I was back up and running in a week.
