SW Trains are just awful now

SW Trains are just awful now. One of the worst rated in the country last year, they then went on strike for the whole of december followed by constant delays, engineering works and reduced services. Weekends have been awful, sometimes no trains whatsoever the whole weekend or random delays with rail replacement buses sent to cover them. It's like a never ending saga.

First for failure

It is not surprising that SWR have failed. First also run much of the bus services in and around the Bath and Bristol areas. They treat their drivers as if they are dirt; many leave and driver turnover is at an all-time high. They constantly compromise health and safety, sending out poorly serviced, even dangerous, buses; the drivers are as such then complicit, if they knowingly drive a dangerous bus, but they are threatened with disciplinary action if they complain.

I drive a taxi and ply for hire on a SWR station. The taxi passengers are constantly moaning about SWR who treat us like dirt, too. We pay nearly £500 per year for a permit; however, they only allow 12 cabs on the rank...yet, they sell around 90 permits per year. Pure, greedy profit as they do nothing to make our lives easier. Lately, they are taking too long to pay us for ‘railway jobs’, which is compounded by the reduced passenger footfall in the current Coronavirus crisis. As we are all self-employed, it all looks fairly bleak! They could certainly do better, for their passengers and for their stakeholders.

Why do we have to put up with SWT?

What is the point of a "privatised" rail service if I can't choose which rail company I want to deliver my service. They have thousands of bad reviews but why would South West Trains care when they have a monopoly on these routes. Maybe they could concentrate on delivering the service and not frivolous rebranding.

SWR you clowns

SWR you really are a bunch of clowns, the service continues to worsen year on year and you are genuinely ruining peoples lives. It is impossible to makes plans, maintain a job, pick up children on time etc with such an unreliable service, I find alternative routes where possible to avoid giving you any more cash than required.

Your trains are completely antiquated and break down almost daily. The bloke in Waterloo who is on repeat apologising for any 'disruption to your service this morning due to congestion in the (replace with new location each morning) area'. Please fall down a hole my friend and save your breath, your apologies mean absolutely nothing.

Why is there zero ability to run a service on time, the statistics are a joke. The sooner the striking guards are sacked and the company nationalised the better.

Pls can someone from the government do…

Pls can someone from the government do something to improve the service of this terrible train company. I have been using this service for 15 years and the service just gets worse and worse each month. Not a week goes by when there is a major delay or cancellation !

accessible service

Because it meant using a replacement bus as part of the trip to Eastleigh, it meant I would have to pick up the train at Romsey. This is not an accessible station so they provided a taxi to Eastleigh so that I did not have to wait nearly an hour for the bus to Southampton. All I said was, “How will I get on the train at Romsey if it is not on Platform 1”. Thank you Salisbury, South Western Rail and the taxi driver.

Really bad, just really really bad.

Tired of cancellations, trains being terminated mid journey or just not showing up. With no apology no compensation because it falls outside of the criteria for refunds or compensation. You are advised to check websites and apps before travelling. This is pointless for the information is either outdated or just not there.

The amount of times I check to see if the trains are delayed or experiencing trouble is now daily. It is the same thing, the app says the trains are fine. I get to the station, cancelled or severely delayed. Also the staff at the stations are likewise abysmal or aggressive. No doubt themselves tired of being the brunt of angry passengers venting their annoyance of such a dire service.

This has to be the worse Train service in the world

Here im sat at 21.07 at Salisbury station after coming from the hospital on my way home and southwest trains split the train and I am on the wrong one! Why because I didnt hear the announcement! Who splits a train at night when people are tired (been up since 4.30 yo get the 7am) to get to London and here I am thinking about bed and I am on the wrong end of the train because the job of alerting people was not done properly! Iam here with a another couple of people who are in the same boat as me ( man and woman). So I am writing this review to share why Southwest trains has got to be the worst train providers in the country, probablythe world!!! I will now have to wait for 55 minutes for the next one so wont get to my destination until 10.30pm and home about 11pm!

Trains are always late and always…

Trains are always late and always delayed. I changed to southern service just to be on time. I decided to come to queenstown road this morning because I had missed my train from battersea park road and i should've just gone to battersea park anyway because this train(queenstown road) was so delayed i couldve caught 2 trains within that time from battersea park. Worse train service provider EVER.

Wish I could give negative ratings and an option to replace them with better provider

I am sure most of the people, like me, would not even want to give it 1 star for their pathetic service. The issue for me is that I need to travel from Weybridge to Wimbledon for work daily. There is just one direct train in an hour which is at 8.45 am. So I dont want to enter the office after 9am. The other options are to change at Surbiton to reach Wimbledon. With trains running late I am always missing the connecting trains and from past few days they are cancelling the Wimbledon train and asking the passengers to go to London Waterloo and then come back to Wimbledon. I am so furious that I am planning to look for alternative options which are either to leave the job or bring car and pay extra to park it near office. Not sure how can these operators survive in the UK with such a pathetic n horrible service. We dont need apology every day coupled with so many reasons( eg. a person has falled sick and hence we are running late). What I need is on time trains since one leg of delayed train screws up my whole connectivity every day without fail. We cannot pay to them for providing such a discomfort.

Had train delays 4 times in the last 7…

Had train delays 4 times in the last 7 journeys to work utter rubbish. Then when I'm already running late today I get stopped on my way out of the station for my ticket adding an extra 5 mins to my already 15min delayed train thanks alot, something are unavoidable but why check tickets from an already very late train great idea.

Sabotaging Service?

Is it my imagination or are the staff of SouthWest trains deliberately sabotaging the service, so that the government is forced to take back control? The Unions are already out there advocating for re-nationalisation. The service, if you can call it that, has been particularly bad since the Christmas strikes, with delays, cancellations and not enough carriages for peak hour commutes. My early morning commute between Petersfield and Waterloo usually has 10-12 carriages as it is a peak hour service. This morning it had 5 carriages. I had to stand for the entire journey. Absolutely appalling!

Most pathetic rail company in the world…

Most pathetic rail company in the world ..... Last 3 months I have made 12 journeys using Southwest trains..... Not once was there no delays, cancellations or engineering works. Over weekends the service is basically non existent as its non stop engineering works for years and years, months and months on end ....
Take a taxi, take a bus, whatever......you will save yourself much grief and money.

Rising prices, falling standards.

Rising prices, falling standards.
10 years ago the fares were okay ish but at least the trains were on time. These days you can't get anywhere on time, and sometimes you can't get anywhere at all. It's actually become cheaper to drive. Even the buses have ended up being faster and cheaper to make an 18 mile journey on average! Yet train is suppose to be the most economical travel. This service needs shutting down.
