Th Southwest trains company is…

Th Southwest trains company is terrible. They fight to have guards inside the trains to do nothing. They just want to earn a salary and do nothing. They plan a strike to just bother people that are working. However, the ticket price is still very high. Simply ridiculous. The government should take over this company. Terrible service. Most expensive bad service in the world. Dreadful.

Not bad but could be far Better

To be honest I must be very lucky as I have only ever had 1 bad experience with them that was a couple of years ago and I got off a train from Scotland to London then when I got to Waterloo the advertised train had gone early and there was no trains going back to Bournemouth the staff at Waterloo was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard. I was advised to go to Southampton and get the train from there in December 3hrs in the cold and no hotel or ticket even though it was there fault. I had to pay my fare to Southampton then again to Bournemouth I sent an email and never got a reply back apart from the automated response.

Other than that I never really had an issue with them yes they can be late but at least you know if they are running late or they been called off unlike the buses.

Truly awful

Truly awful - so I’ve got a helpful suggestion - alter all of the timetables so that departure times are 20 minutes later than they currently are. That way, the trains might actually run on time for a change......

Poor train service

I am a college student who catches the train from Axminster to Exeter. On the way home today from Exeter I was waiting for the 3:30 train to get home ready in plenty of time for going to work. As a young person my age is need to pay for driving lessons, car, insurance, college trips, a rail card and many more letting know that I also need to save for the future So going to work is important. The 3:30 train was cancelled so I had to then wait for another hour for the train back still hopeing to get home to work in time. When the 4:30 train then got to the station it was only 3 coaches long with everyone person waiting from the 3:30 train, other people waiting from finish shopping or work so it was extremely busy when I was about to board the train I decided to try and help a lady with two young kids, a pram and shopping to get on the train as she was waiting for an hour already when at the front of the train she was told she was unable to get on and the rest of us waiting was kicked off the train. After this we went to see if my friend and I was able to get a refund on her ticket and asked why their was only 3 coaches. We was answered with the fact it not their fault we should of finished college quicker when we had been waiting for over an hour already. We was then direct to a supervisor which we was told would give us a taxi home. When we saw the supervisor we was told quite abruptly that it not her fault and she doesn’t have to do anything to help us. I would of even got the 4:43 train back to honiton which means I would be able to get a lift back however this was also cancelled and so was another one to Axminster. Now I would worry so much about it apart from the fact I pay £800 a year on a ticket which means I can get to Exeter and back and this has happened many time before but this is the final straw.

Sat here travelling back from Waterloo

Sat here travelling back from Waterloo, 45 minutes late leaving the city due to this morning’s delays. Nope, no air-charging, nope, no leather seats. One cup of ‘complimentary’ (extra 50 quid for first class travel) served over 2 hours into the journey, I’ll have time to drink just the one then. No drink at all on the return journey, only applies in the morning apparently. Save your £50.00 folks, go economy, SWR first class rip off!

1 star is overly generous!

1 star is overly generous!

I've been using SWR to commute for a year now and it's the most shambolic, insulting and useless service you could imagine. I turn up at my local station every morning not knowing whether or not my train will turn up. If it does turn up; it's usually late and massively overcrowded with miserable commuters. As we are seen as a small minority station on a suburban line we simply aren't given the same treatment as those who live further afield. Our trains are old, broken, short-formed and have no toilets. I do understand that some of the fault must lie with Network Rail for shoddy signalling systems but my word do SWR make it worse. I get a Southern train from Clapham to Victoria and this one station stop is more pleasant than my SWR train. There are toilets, coat hooks, luggage racks and the trains are in generally better condition. The SWR twitter team give absolutely useless information when asked and the Delay Repay scheme is an insulting joke. I pay well over £1600 a year for my ticket and mine is one of the cheapest. The other day I had 2 cancelled trains and I got back £0.92!!! They really are the biggest money-grabbing, useless, always-striking company you could imagine. Incompetent. Not to forget they aren't bothering to turn up to work for the whole of December therefore ruining the lives of it's users every day. I don't imagine we'll get an apology or money back?

If there was a rating of -1,000,000 I…

If there was a rating of -1,000,000 I would give that to this pathetic, useless, imbicilically run, shambles of a so called railway service.

In the four years I have been taking my wife and now daughter also to catch trains to Winchester we have always seen delayed trains, cancelled trains, constant line and signal problems. The train from woolston became so unreliable we had to stop catching it.

On top of this the customer service is abysmal and then we get Mick Cash and his merry RMT striking campaign about safety. The constant strikes cause mayhem and disruption to everyones lives but not to Mick Cash himself. The only safety is how much Cash he is pocketing (£160k per year). What a disgusting, divisive, disruptive and despicable man.

Then when it comes to compensation South Western barely give any recompense whatsoever and then keep raising the train fares. How do they get away with this? If they invested in the service and everything ran on time then we would understand.

Overall a really poor service that we have to use but really wish we didn't.

I have travelled on this line for 7 years it’s horrific what you put your customers through. You should be ashamed to even call this a service and charge people for it! The service keeps getting worse and worse and the annual season tickets keep going up. In 2019 people shouldn’t be putting up with this, a 25 minute journey on one line is talking me 75 mins, you need to invest in your railway and trains but that’s an obvious solution. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Southampton central train station

Southampton central train station. Absolutely disgusting behaviour all round. The staff are rude and abusive, the online customer service are non existent, I am a disabled customer with a disabled person's discount card, something you have to pay £20 for, (its not free) , my card had expired so I purchased a new one the same day, the following day I showed the young man behind the ticket office my proof of purchase with online receipt, I was verbally abused, accused of being a fraud and forced to pay full price. This young man has been serving me for the past year he knew full well I'm not trying to get something for free he knew I had legitimate card information. I asked this guy for his details, he refused me any details except his first name, he had nothing on his lanyard to show customers his details, it was an empty lanyard. I made an official complaint on their customer complaint web page regarding this, I got a complaint number and was told I will receive a reply within 10 days with details of the complaint outcome, it's been over a month now without reply, I've sent 4 emails to them, they do not respond, I unfortunately I do not have any other options to buy from any other company. swt have no respect for their customers. If I could give a zero star review then I'd give zero.
