Do NOT trust Sykes with your hard earned cash and expect a good service. We arrived to find the keysafe empty. Should be a rating of -1. Whilst I was on hold on their emergency contact line another group arrived with the key. The property had been double booked. Despite efforts to book us in to other accommodation locally everywhere in the vicinity and surrounding area was full. It was then suggested by the Sykes rep he had a vacancy in Cairngorms (we were booked at Aberdyfi Wales) We had bought perishable groceries for our stay which are wasted, have struggled to get a meal and have had a 3hr night drive home with a vulnerable 89 year old mother. If all this sounds you're cup of tea then knock yourself out go for it and book a Sykes cottage. I will be taking legal action if this isnt sorted out to my satisfaction.

The perfect location for a brilliant beach holiday. The property is dated but when travelling with a young family it is perfect! We can’t wait for our next stay.

The booking process was really easy. I was kept up to date with payment schedules and booking reminders. Love the app it meant all my details were in one place rather than searching through emails.

We booked a two week holiday in Cornwall with Sykes. The Hayloft at Breage. This holiday cost us £3,116.00.
It was an advertised as everything at the property. When we arrived the Hayloft it had no WIFi at all, I did contact the house keeper who did arrive the next day to let us reboot it but made no difference. I then contacted Sykes and they did get in touch with the owner which made no difference, the owner offered us £150 that’s 5% of our holiday. We declined the offer. Sykes came back to us and said that was the final offer from the owner. We are completely disappointed. We did relay on the WiFi for our daughter. How can people get away with this, totally not acceptable. We will not book with Sykes again. This was totally out of order.

i knew what i wanted

Whilst listed and priced as a premium holiday property - and it likely had been went first purchased by the owner, sadly the property we stayed in (Skylight in Aldeburgh) was not well maintained to match its billing and Sykes obviously took no responsibility for verifying the reality of what it was marketing or handling complaints. Plates were chipped, the outside decking was rotten in places, the kitchen sink was leaking into unsightly buckets and the whole house needed a proper clean. There was also an infestation of ants which ate the food we stored on the kitchen work tops the first night. This was clearly a known issue as there were ineffective ant traps all over the house but it needed a pest expert to fix. Our complaints in this regard went unanswered. We also noted there was no fire extinguisher or blanket and electrical equipment had not been tested, as is required by law for rental properties. So in summary a very disappointing experience for what was advertised as a premium property.

We have used Sykes so many times over the years and the service is always first class, highly recommend this company

Terrible company!! What you will uncover if you have any issue is the following:

- They don't own the properties, manage them or have any real influence over the booking.
- Their customer service line is non-existant. I called 3 times explaining myself over and over... only to be put on hold, hung up on continously.
- If you have any issue and the owner doesn't want to do anything about it, neither will they!

They basically take a fee for advertising other people's properties but are useless if you have a problem.

Best to book direct if you can or just find a holiday home chain that is reliable.

I was unable to apply the £30.00 discount when booking. Made 2 phone calls, 1 of 19 mins and 1 of 14 mins no answer.
Left 2 emails had to resend many times as your in box was full! Again, no answer..
I will think twice before booking again.

easy to find somewhere to stay, and the website was very accessible. great at keeping up to date with the upcoming booking without feeling like too many emails were coming in. the holiday cottage was perfect for our needs.

Easy, straight forward bookings, and support when needed.

Clear and succinct answering the phone everything was straight forward. For people of my age it was a pleasure to speak to someone rather than go on line.

Lovely space clean and everything we needed (loved the fire)🔥
Really welcoming and friendly hosts great for parking and such a cute local shop.
The pub was 2 mins away and the food was really tasty.

As a large group of 7 adults, 3 under 5's and a 10 month old this house was fabulous. Everything we could need was catered for. The owners have gone above and beyond to make it a perfect holiday, we didn't want for anything. The house has definitely got the WOW factor. The hot tub was definitely a winner, we were so pleased to be lucky enough to find the perfect place with the added bonus of the hot tub. We will most definitely be booked this holiday again, no doubt about that. Definitely needs more than 5 stars, well done to the owners for having such a fabulous eye for detail, it made our holiday perfect.
