Worse than time share sharks …

I’ve just found out that this company has gone into liquidation.

We booked a villa in spain for Jun20, clearly covid atop that… we moved to 21…. Then clearly had to change to jun 2022… paid deposits and also got charged admin charges for changing dates (as if any company did this I covid times!!)
now this Russell Magee rental manager doesn’t answer the phone, the owner (CEO) still showing active on companies house, Roger Fenton….
No replies to email??
where are our deposits and after how you made us prove that our flights were cancelled last year and now this… with no notification nor sight of our deposits being refunded… I find out by chance that our birthday celebrations are in tatters

Please anyone, do not ever use these people and if you so use a company to book a villa check the rental managers names.

NO RESPONSE - lost $1400 deposit

Booked a place in Florida for Feb 2022. Immediate response after deposit of $1400 was paid. When I followed up for direction on paying for the rest of the cost they disappeared - zero response. I have 9 flights and a rental van booked for our Feb trip and zero assurance that we even have a place. It's been over a month of me calling and emailing and no response. Do I cancel our flights and van (non refundable) or take a chance and have no house?!! beyond devastated and upset.

DO NOT USE!!!!

After changing a booking from summer 2019 to a winter break in 2022, the travel restrictions in France meant we were unable to travel, after 12 emails to ask my options to both Reservations and Russell Magee they have just completely blanked me, they are the worst company I have ever dealt with, do not use at any cost!!!

STAY AWAY. Very difficult to get any response from…

Very difficult to get any response from David Robson, rental manager. During the entire booking process he was very responsive and checked with us constantly to get our confirmation of booking, and especially get our prepayment and final payment incl. deposit. Once he had our money, he went off the grid.
We needed info re COVID restrictions and guidance re arrival logistics etc. Almost impossible to get any response from David. Only after weeks and numerous emails did he respond.
And now we have been back for six weeks and have yet to receive our €400 deposit back. Once has he replied that he will check with his accounts dept - and guess what? We have not heard anything since...!!
This is not only a joke. It's extremely unprofessional and we will advice everyone against using them.
We have for weeks discussed whether to post this or give Travelopo and David Robson more time and the benefit of the doubt. But now enough is enough.

Avoid Travelopo

Avoid Travelopo. They rented me a property which was non- existent (about to be demolished) and initially denied this. Initially the were unable or unwilling to put me in touch with their supplier. Eventually, after unwillingness to engage on their part, they finally acknowledged that property was unavailable. They promised refund of deposit, saying it would reach my account within 10 days. Over 2 months later, NOTHING. A scam? A sham? Cowboys!!!

Booked a villa in Cyprus

Booked a villa in Cyprus. Fast quick booking process, during which I paid the standard rental fees, plus a 500 GBP deposit. The villa was excellent, but after returning home from the trip, the problems started. Despite contractually receiving the deposit money from me, Travelopo directed me to a Cypriot agency from whom the property was ultimately rented, which stated that no deposit should have been taken for the property in the first place. Similarly, I then confirmed with the actual owner of the property, whether the deposit should be withheld, she was unaware that a deposit was even taken.

After returning to Travelopo and saying that no other party in the rental chain was aware that a deposit was taken, after some initial direction from the Sales Team, I have been stuck with no response or acknowledgment for weeks from the Accounts team. The professional standard appears to be, that contractual conditions and obligations are of no value, that no process is in place to contact clients to return their money, that obfuscation and the lack of any deposit return process is normal. I have wasted hours of my valuable time chasing the team, when in fact they should have been chasing me, to ensure the return of my money. An utter disgrace, avoid the company if they try to take any deposit from you, and rent the properties from source.

shambles

We booked a villa on the Spanish mainland in July last year believing that the covid pandemic was almost over for the end of May 21. However in January this year it became very unclear if we would be able to travel, I asked on numerous occasions if we could defer the trip to the same dates 2022 and was repeatedly told NO , we would have to wait and see as Spain’s borders are open! Even though we can’t travel. We are facing a fine of £5000 for unnecessary travel (until end June)and so again asked for a deferral and again told no.
We were also sent a variety of bills for the final payment one of which was for £400 more than the total cost of the trip already having paid the deposit! And another for almost half the final payment amount, shambles comes to mind!!!
We took the decision not to pay the final amount as we were unsure if we would get any recompense should we be unable to travel.... if only I had read the reviews before booking . We were shown little or no flexibility other than wait and see what happens but you need to pay the final amount or you can cancel and rebook for next year but will lose the deposit and it will count as a new booking.... we aren’t that gullible or stupid. I will never book with this company again given the complete lack of flexibility and understanding we have been shown.
We didn’t want to cancel simply change the dates of our 4 day birthday trip.

Like getting blood out of a stone!

We booked a villa to use back in Sept of 2019 to use all of May in 2020. Unknown to any of us covid struck so we could not use the villa for that period. We emailed travelopo to ask for a refund 2 months prior to our departure date to which was point blank refused and was told to contact my travel insurance to seek a refund. I suggested we have our dates transferred to May this year 2021 to which they would not entertain. After doing some research i found that i could ask my bank to apply a "section75 chargeback" to get a full refund.
(please look this up if you`re accomodation supplier is refusing to give you a refund)
Once i mentioned this to travelopo they changed their tune and deferred our villa stay for all of May this year - 2021.
Now we cannot use the villa this May either and we are back to square one again trying to get our dates deferred. We have on several occassions emailed to use the villa for less nights in September as it has a dearer nightly rate but all we get back is being fobbed off.
I even sent travelopo a link from the consumer website Which about another holiday lettings company backing down and giving customers who booked accomodation only refunds after they stepped in, but this fell on deaf ears too.
If i get no joy this time round i shall be going to my bank to seek a refund via the section75 chargeback scheme.

Avoid at all cost!

Originally Inflexible, but changed after a lot of chasing

I booked a villa in Majorca for April 2021, with the pandemic changing everything I wanted to move it back one year, didn't want a full refund, just a reasonable request to move dates, initially I was told I would have to pay my full balance before potentially moving. After weeks of chasing and pressure they finally agreed to move the dates, not ideal, but we got there in the end. EasyJet moved my flights no problem, the airport hotel moved their bookings without quibble, but TravelOpo it took a lot of effort to get it sorted, it shouldn't have to be this hard.

Wow! A truly amazing holiday

Fabulous experience and an absolutely beautiful villa in Majority. Luxurious and high standard. The description was great, but it was 10 times better in reality. We felt totally pampered with our surroundings for our whole stay. We even had 32 degrees centigrade on a couple of days at the end of October! Nlue skies every day and beautiful scenery, whilst being relaxing and tranquil. Thank you so much Travelopo

We stayed for a week in a very large villa close to Pollenca, Majorca. It had a beautiful garden, including large private pool. Gardener/housekeeper visited daily & overall we were very pleased with booking process, accommodation, location & backup.

I will definitely use Travelopo again

I will definitely use Travelopo again. I've always been put off by the idea of going away on holiday because of the stress of booking but Travelopo made the whole thing really stress free.

Pure perfection

I stayed in an amazing villa in Pollenca and it was incredible. Everything was pristine and homely, but also perfectly magical to give you the holiday of a life time. I will never forget my stay and will always be looking to trust pilot in the future.

Absolutely terrible company

Absolutely terrible company, please avoid at all costs. I booked a Villa in Greece for September 2020. Obviously unable to go because of possible quarantine restrictions. I asked to move dates, request denied. After much investigating I established that the villa owners representative had in fact issued a discretionary amendment offer that Travelopo did not pass onto me although there were three clear occasions when this would have been the appropriate course of action. I have therefore lost my 2020 holiday directly as a result of their inability to communicate and total incompetence. As a "booking agent" that is surely their sole purpose. Shambolic and diabolical... I will be suing.

I booked in october last year with…

I booked in october last year with travelopo a villa costing 6730 pounds for two weeks commencing end of june 2020. Obviously we could not go there due to pandemic.
They refuse a refund as the holiday was to celebrate our golden wedding with our family we want a refund which as I said they flatly refuse
I have spent many emails.
I would advise that you have nothing to do with this company and at the I am having to take legal advice

Dreadful handling of our holiday during…

Dreadful handling of our holiday during COVID-19. Despite my attempts to ask for flexibility - a change of date, they continued to say the holiday could go ahead as the Spanish borders were open - completely against the UK government advising against all non-essential travel and the requirement to quarantine for 2 weeks on return. Worse still, when I received the villa owners details, he was completely unaware of my request to change dates. I have reported Travelopo to the Competition and Markets Authority for their behaviours in encouraging people to travel against government advise, and their complete lack of flexibility in moving our booking.

We booked a Property in Italy and paid…

We booked a Property in Italy and paid a large deposit. Then all flights were canceled to Italy and Americans were not even allowed into the country due to Covid. Travelopo would not even apply our deposit to a future trip let alone entertain a refund. They are out for themselves. They do not even try to be fair to their customers. Beware.

Inflexible

Refused to move booking for July 2020 that became untenable due to Covid crisis. We were forced to cancel and lost an extremely large deposit despite our efforts to find a rebooking solution. Will never use again.
