UPC/Cablecom has to be the worst…

UPC/Cablecom has to be the worst company out there. I have observed the following:
- Unilaterally upgraded a contract and sent me the bill for the increased amount - when challenged, lied to me on the phone about the fact that I had asked for it
- After cancellation, sent me a bill for something I did not order. When I did not pay, sent me a bill with a fine for late payment. When challenged, said "it is just marketing, you can ignore it"
- At my parents place, after cancellation by the building of the UPC service (no doubt for the quality of their customer service), unilaterally sent my parents a notification thanking them for their new contract and a connect box to install
I am confused whether incompetence trumps deviousness at UPC, but you can rest assured that I will not waste any opportunity to ensure everybody I know is aware of my experience.
PS: How do I give no stars?

Awful experience

Awful experience. Took them about 8 weeks to send us the internet equipment and no compensation for their mistake, confusing and abusive terms and conditions. They don't honour offers and don't fix the problems with the bills. Useless and frustrasting to speak to customer service. Can't wait to finish my contract term with them.

Stay away from UPC

It is a total waste of time to be writing anything about UPC - Customer service giving out conflicting information, there is no follow up, customer service misinterpreting essence of phone calls. Stay away from UPC

Extremely bad service and fraudulent tactics

Extremely bad service. No words to describe service quality, apparent internal chaos of this company and incompetence of their help-desk (I would have to write a half page to describe my last 8 encounters). Moreover, they seem to apply fraudulent means to get new customers.

Stay away from this Company....I have tried for monts to cancel the service..

I Have tried to cancel my account with UPC since November 2018, as now April 2019 still receiving bills. I sent my cancellation back in November, my mistake was that I signed with my name instead of having my husband ( main holder of the account) to sign. I never received any letter or email stating the mistake. My service with the new provider started February 2 and in March I received anothr bill for CHF 263 to pay. I went to their store and the lady at counter treated me leterally like an stupid. When I asked why I never received any notice about the letter not being accepted she said, they sent a text message on my phone. A text message???? In the mean time I sent in the cancellation I changed phones, so the text message remained on my old phone, never received it. I asked the lady why they don't send letters or email to notify their customers, she told me with a very annoied voice, that they send text messages insteda! Text Messages???? Is this how you comunicate with your customers???
I returned the router, sent another cancellation letter stating all the facts,the letter was with signature receipt, went out on March 21.19, never received a feedback. Today April 6 I called the customer service to inquire on my cancellation letter and they told me that they yes received it and they sent me a letter and email, never received anything. The guy at the phone went to check and he himself could not find any email. Strange enough, right?? He said they sent a letter, I never received it. So he told me the now I have to pay until May?????? This is totally a scam!!! Stay Away from this Company!!! Their service was so poor, after midnight I could not receive anymore wireless connection, like somedbody would turn off a switch! During the day would come and go...and I signed up for the most expensive and fast service. Really poorly organized Company and deceiving pretending to send out letters in order to delay the cancellations procedure, so they will still charge you extra months! To be sued!!!

10 years a loyal customer

10 years a loyal customer, treated unfairly when switching to Salt. UPC have tried to continue charging me for a cable when internet, tv and phone services were all disconnected. Couldn’t get through on their helpline. Disingenuous and very disappointing. Richard McCombie, 4053 Basel.

Worst company I had to deal with in my…

Worst company I had to deal with in my life.
I had to pay 600CHF for their mistake. I canceled my contract and they didn't do it. For 7 months the internet has been off and I have to pay for it. I had to jump from one"agent" to another, write letters and it was just a waste of my time. It's a shame for Switzerland to have a company like them here.

if you can stay away, do it

if you can stay away, you better do. Extremely unprofessional and inflexible service. If I could put rating at zero, I would do it. It took them 2 month to ship properly TV boxes, I spoke about 10 times to their customer support. Majority of them are useless and don't resolve the problem. Only couple of times out of 10 I had at least someone reasonable to have a meaningful conversation. If you like to be ripped off, waste lots of time and to get zero service, then UPC is your choice.

Unacceptable service

Unacceptable customer service - my internet line has not been working for 6 (!) months , before signing I obviously checked the connection to my building with UPC, they said absolutely perfect. Once the router arrived and didn’t work, I spent hours getting an engineer to come and check - result: the cables within the building seem to be too old to accommodate the UPC line - so totally useless to me! That is precisely what I would have needed UPC to check before signing me up, precisely what their engineer found out within minutes when in the building. Now I called them to say that after 6 months of paying for nothing, I’d like to leave - and they tell me I have to pay for another 6 months (although acknowledging that I’m paying for nothing!). If I treated my clients this way, I would have no more business, that’s for sure.

I’m leaving and going to Swisscom anyway.

I have to disagree with many of these…

I have to disagree with many of these reviews from my experience. They are not perfect, but the service is reliable generally. I have had to phone their support for problems with their "black magic" media box on several occasions but I always got good support, and the problem was solved quickly, on one occasion they sent a technician the same day.
But where I have had the best experience is with their mobile Europe deal. The mobile service connects automagically over wifi when it can, and the Europe roaming means I did not pay a cent extra while holidaying in a long list of east European (EU) countries right down through Romania and Bulgaria. My companion had a Salt contract and suffered huge extra costs (many hundreds of CHF) even though he paid for a EU roaming option. UPC might not be perfect but, technically and from a support perspective they are miles ahead of Salt.

Worst experience with customer service…

Worst experience with customer service I ever had. I permanently had very bad internet connection. When I cancelled my subscription via phone call (don't repeat my mistake, do it via post) I continued to receive the invoices and calls after the end period. This company needs serious improvement.

Goodwill / Customer friendliness: ZERO

Customer friendliness and goodwill is absolutely unknown at Cablecom, unfortunately. They seriously charge you 10 Franks for an invoice sent to my old address, that was returned because of that. This costs them just nothing!
Then they suspended my subscription, as I was not using the Internet line until having moved to a new appartment, which I did appreciate a lot. But then they destroy the whole effort again, by just activating it again, without giving me notice, telling that they can only suspend it for 6 months. That of course, I was never informed about. So they are charging 4 months of Internet now, which was never used!

Couldn't fix my Internet connection, still made me pay for it.

I've been a Cablecom customer, Internet service, for 10 years. Then I moved to a new apartment and couldn't connect any more. I did several calls to the tech department, all of them ended with them telling me everything would start working in half an hour. Not true. In the end I decided to change to another provider and started the cancellation proces. It took three months for them to finally acknowledge the cancellation and guess what, they made me pay for these three months. I never used Internet from them over this period as it didn't work.

My take: inept and unreliable. Avoid.

Two hours unsuccessfully trying to get through to customer service

Two hours trying to get through, cut off 3 times... now closed for the night. No internet, no fixed line and I need the internet for work tomorrow. Thanks upc. So many problems with your network yet you never admit to network problems for Swiss Romandie on your updates site. This has to be a network problem because all my neighbours wifi networks are offline too. Recommendation for anyone considering using upc cablecom - don't! (I'm stuck with them until I move as my building was never connected to swisscom)

Avoid these incompetent people

The worst company ever ! They don't give a damn about you when you write them emails, they don't answer you, I think they don't even read them. On the phone they are very aggressive. And they keep sending recall costs despite the fact you're on an issue with them.
I will never use their services again.

ABSOUTELY avoid UPC CABlcom cable at all cost!!! I have had many problems with UPC with incorrect and dubious billing - one instant it took me 5months to resolve and now once again it has taken since April with documents provided them that they have clearly overcharged - but they refuse so will have to take legal action. Their Customer service is third world, they don't give a damn about resolving problems nor customer satisfaction - they are rude as thugs and aggressive and even had a representative shout at me over the telephone - I was shocked. they may advertise a Lower monthly plasn than others for UPC mobile but they will swindle and rip you off, guaranteed on incorrect and unclear invoices. Getting legal involved.

I have already cancelled my internet as well as I had loads of issues with service disruptions for entire days and. half days. their response was that they did not give a dam.

Really lousy customer service

Misspelled name, first and last name reversed, if it was only that, no big deal. But add to that a discount promised but not given without having to contact customer service, then a payment they lost but they block my internet anyway without warning. I've had to contact their customer service so many times my phone has it under 'Most Used'. UPC Cablecom sucks! Really no longer worth the CHF 20 savings over Swisscom.
