Regret placing my trust here

Like other reviewers have mentioned, Atlantic Money will lock your rate for just a day (compare, for instance, to 50+ hours with Wise). Your funds will rarely arrive to their Estonian account within that brief timeframe. If you ask questions, the mantra is the same: unfortunately, we are not able to control how quickly banks send us money.

Nothing one can say to that, right? Everything is out of their hands. So you'll receive your money days later, when the rate is strangely convenient for Atlantic Money and not for you. In my case, the exchange rate I received was the lowest I'd seen in days. It was much higher when I sent the money, and it's much higher now.

I did notice the short lock-in rate. So I sent the money at 5 am, and then manually re-generated my quote later, to be sure the rate remains locked for longer. But there is no record of this on their end. What can you do? Just take the loss (hundreds of EUR), learn the lesson and move on.

Money sent: 5 am Thursday
Money received: 1 week later, on Wednesday afternoon. On Monday, was informed via email of the newly applicable (low) exchange rate
Money lost: over 400 EUR

We're very sorry to hear about this experience.
Firstly, we can assure you that we absolutely do not make any money when we execute a transfer at the live rate, we simply pass on to you what is available from the market.
Secondly, we guarantee EUR rates for 1 business day - in our experience this is plenty of time, because a third of payments arrive with us instantly and the vast majority of the rest will arrive with us by the end of the next business day. In other words, there is a very small percentage of you losing the rate you have secured. This is most often caused by the customer's bank being slow (usually for compliance checks). It is as frustrating for us as it is for you.
Fortunately, EU regulators are cracking down on slow banks and technology is allowing more payments to travel faster every month.

Where is my money ? NL to US

My transfer did not go well due to confusion on my part about which US routing number to use : wire transfer or direct deposit . I should have entered direct deposit . Currently waiting for a refund . Help center responded to my WhatsApp after about an hour

Just used atlantic money for the first time

Just used atlantic money for the first time recently to convert 6500 GBP to AUD. Given that they are regulated by the FCA and NBB i felt comfortable.

It did take a while for my payment to be confirmed - most likely because it was my first transaction to this new payee so extra checks were performed. The money arrived as expected on the delivery date i was told.

I cant fault this service, £3 per transaction is great, providing it stays this way and they release the android app (which is on its way). I highly recommend this service.

Very good service and UX, be careful with FX rate variations

The app and the service work super good. The commissions are incredibly low and the FX rate used are exactly the same you can see in internet.

I give it 3 stars because of my experience EUR -> GBP. It only fixes the rate for 24h, which means you have 24h to send your money from your EU country to a bank account in Estonia. Normally it does not happen so fast (I have tried both from Spain and Italy) which means that you end up using the rate that is current when the money is received, which normally will be worse if you have been waiting for a convenient rate. I think that they should extend the fixed rate period to 48h, which would make the service more predictable and reliable.

Enric, thank you for sharing your feedback about our service! In many cases EUR bank transfers are delivered to us instantly, which means securing your exchange rate is not usually a problem. When payments are delivered to us more slowly, funds almost always arrive during the next business day (which again means securing your exchange rate is not a problem due to our rate hold policies). Unfortunately, we are not able to control how quickly external banks send us money. Our Express delivery option is available for when you need funds delivered as quickly as possible.

Very easy and cost effective

Used Atlantic Money to send money to a company based in Ibiza. It was very easy to set up after downloading their app, and as I was paying a company, did not need any identity checks so it was all completed within a few minutes at my end.

It works by them creating an account with your own name which you transfer the money into using the account details they create. They then send on the money to the final destination.

For us, we set it up on the Saturday and had notification on Tuesday the money had been sent on.

We chose to lock in the exchange rate on the day for 50p as otherwise the amount the company received may have been slightly different, so take note if you are using it to pay for something. Then were no other fees charged and the exchange rate was the same one XE were showing that day, so seemed competitive.

I would definitely use again to pay for anything overseas.

Will definitely use again

I was nervous about using Atlantic Money because it seemed too good to be true and, being the new kid, doesn’t have many reviews yet. However, it was super easy to use and the funds arrived in the US the next day. I will definitely be using them again.

I was very skeptical and insecure about…

I was very skeptical and insecure about using the services of to this company instead of Wise. I've been using Wise since the beginning

I sent in total around 100000 euros in chunks of 5000, 10000 and slowly crawling up to transfers of 25000 euros. I paid less than 10 euros in fees, unbelievable.

All of them arrived and I cant still believe that the transfer fee is a fixed 3 euros per transaction and they actually waived the fee for me two times.

I faced some delays in the transfer but they let you know in advance and offer to waive the fee on your next transaction. The total transfer time got better from the first transfer to the last (like 3-4 business days in total)

Ill keep using them and I hope their business model is successful.

Good and cheap service. Recommended

I have been using to transfer £££ to $$$ and struggle to find anything cheaper than these guys. I’ve transferred around 20K in total via multiple transfers and have found the experience good and as expected each time. Would recommend it 👍

Great rates on euros.

**Update have used to send a lot more money now for a property purchase in Spain. Would recommend 100 percent**

I found these guys when using wise as they have a comparison when booking money transfer. A bit sceptical at first as not many reviews available. I just transferred 1k from the UK to my account in Spain. Went through as promised booked the transfer on Monday, money was in my Spanish account Wednesday. A email from them came also when money was sent. Will use again.

I couldn't send the money

Nothing mentioned in their FAQ, but they don't accept wire transfer. Their banks got huge transfer fees. I will never use them. I couldn't send money, my money is refunded back with €95 deduction. When I mentioned them the issue, they did nothing.

Reply from Atlantic Money

Dear Mert,

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

Our goal is to dramatically reduce the cost of sending money internationally. In order to do this, we cannot accept wire transfers - this is a slow and costly method to move money (about 20x more expensive than a domestic bank transfer).

In this instance, you sent us Euros by international wire from Turkey, and we had to send them back. Your bank (rather than us) charged you for both transactions. Please note that we also incurred significant fees to receive and refund your funds, which we did not pass on to you.

We believe we made it clear that we only accept local bank transfers (not wires). For example, we have several FAQ articles which mention our payment guidelines, the methods of payment we accept and which countries we operate in.

However, your feedback has encouraged us to find ways to make this even clearer. We hope to serve you again in the future.

Sincerely,
Atlantic Money team
