I would give no stars if I could!
I would give no stars if I could!
I purchased a portable dance floor for over £1200. In the description and information from the seller it said it could either be collected in person, or they could arrange delivery or the buyer could arrange their own courier service. I opted for the latter.
The seller had a responsibility to make sure that she secured the heavy dance floor panels to the portable trolley and to make sure that the loose edging pieces would not fall out of the tray underneath (there was a panel missing from this tray). The seller did not use a ratchet strap or similar to ensure the floor panels didn’t come off and did not do anything to prevent the edging pieces falling out of the tray. She used some duck tape to secure the half panels to the top of the trolley but did not use this anywhere else and she did not use any bubble wrap. She solely relied on the stretch wrap used to wrap round the dance floor which was totally inadequate.
When the dance floor arrived there were 9 large dance floor panels missing and 10 edging pieces missing. I opened a dispute under the wrong category initially but received an email from an agent, Payel M, who advised me that I was fully protected under their buyer protection (which I paid for) and that the seller would have to pay the return costs. He went on to tell me that he had closed down the wrong dispute and opened a return.
A few days later I realised that he hadn’t opened a return so I did so and 2 days later I received an outcome advising me that I would not get my money back. I have tried to appeal but their appeal process is awful as it just involves having to ask for an agent to phone me. The first agent told me that the reason I wasn’t covered was because I was out with the 30 day money back guarantee however this was because the agent had told me that he had opened a return (within the 30 days). I shouldn’t be down over £1200 with the seller getting off Scot free!
How ebay lets things like this slip…
How ebay lets things like this slip through their so called stringent sales policy is way beyond me.
On my recent purchase I received let's say a well known brand for a fraction of the cost. It's advertised as the real McCoy. It came boxed with all the detailed cloned copy of the real deal, product too. But the product is rubbish, not even worth the knocked down price advertised.
Ebays automated service is total tat, no even fit to waste your time of typing in your problem.
I feel let down by ebay, I don't trust their policies. Yes it says this when in reality they don't give a stuff. I've found Amazon to be much better.
Your promises to me about protection mean absolutely nothing to me, in fact not fit for purpose nor given a damn to the individual or their rights. You're about as downmarket as friggin' Facebook....
ebay poor customer services
Purchase an item via ebay seller sent wrong item requested return ebay sent return label sent item back using the label ebay supplied item was lost ebay will not refund as the label they provided did not have tracking , spoke to ebay customer services and had the strangest conversation of my life with their customer services manager , who advised that i should go to the post office from where i posted the item and ask for poof of posting and tracking for an item sent 3 weeks earier !!! WHAT PLANET ARE THEY ON
Ebay refused to help and hung up on me!!
eBay customer service representative hung up on me. Previously when I've managed to speak to a human they have been kind and helpful. This person was unhelpful then when I said they were not offering a fair resolution they hung up on me. eBay standards have been slipping for years and now it's a huge gamble purchasing through their site.
France auto operate out of Poland…
France auto operate out of Poland advertise items(ON EBAY) without informing you of additional tax and duties that are payable after delivery by Fedex.Learning curve purchase goods from uk sellers only saves all the agg dont get caught out like me.
I have used for nearly 20 years
I have used for nearly 20 years. However, recently they have hidden all options to speak with a human.
I was sent a fake item and requested a return. I was not provided with any options, only Royal Mail where you have to print a return label. I do not have access to a printer.
I tried to contact eBay, but it's clear that they do not want to provide any real support.
Such a simple issue should not be happening.
I'm going to close my account and will never use again.
A Clear Reason Behind eBay’s Poor Customer Service Reviews
My experience highlights serious issues with eBay’s customer service system rather than a one-off mistake.
The main problem was not just misunderstanding, but a repeated failure to properly review the case. Different agents responded with incorrect assumptions, leading to the same errors being repeated multiple times.
This resulted in unnecessary delays, wasted time, and significant frustration. It also reflects a lack of accountability and learning within the customer service process, as the same issues continued despite being clearly explained.
Instead of resolving the actual problem, responses often relied on generic templates that did not reflect the situation. This suggests a system that does not adequately support agents in understanding real customer cases.
Overall, this experience shows inefficient use of resources, poor case handling, and a process that does not align with real customer needs. It ultimately damages trust and the company’s reputation.
eBay will hide this from you!
My most valuble advice for UK users of eBay UK is to make sure you check and CHECK AGAIN, that anything you buy on eBay is originating in the UK. I recently forgot to do that, and it cost me well over £100 in purchase and return postage cost, the item was not as described and useless to me. Communicating with the vendor in China was, it turned out, impossible. Trying to communicate with eBay seems contructed to send you in looping tours of their web pages. Consider yourselves warned!!!
Dishonest hub that encourages dishonesty
Even though the seller was unable to get Amazon logistics to deliver proof of their so-called delivery, they refused to reimburse me and said I had to go through the official complaints process for the refund. Ebay decided it had been delivered, siding with the courier without any investigation. Don't use LC Water Products, who are still claiming 100% satisfacton. Particularly depressing as I'm trying to live in a world without Amazon and this happens
Concern About Dishonest Sellers on eBay
Hi,
Some time ago, I noticed dishonest behaviour among certain eBay sellers. Specifically, I am referring to sellers registered in countries like China and Pakistan who advertise themselves as UK sellers. These sellers are based outside the UK and should not present themselves as UK Seller.
I reached out to eBay customer service regarding this issue, but they were unable to provide a clear answer. I was repeatedly transferred to different representatives, none of whom could address my question. Ultimately, I was hung up on without any resolution.
It seems that eBay is allowing these sellers to mislead their customers for profit. As a consequence of this dishonesty, I'm increasingly hearing people express surprise that anyone still chooses to buy from eBay.
TERRIBLE COMPANY
TERRIBLE COMPANY, AND CHEATERS.
BOUGHT ITEM 24 OF APRIL,WAS DROPPED OFF ON 25 OF APRIL,BUT STILL ITEM NEVER COME . ITEM NEVER WAS IN TRANSIT FOR 3 WEEKS.
9 OF MAY I OPEN CASE WHAT ITEM NEVER ARRIVED, AND EBAY WILL STEP IN ON 14 MAY.
TODAY 14 OF MAY, ITEM STILL NEVER MOVE FROM DROP OFF POINT.
EBAY ANSWER - NEED WAIT MORE 5 DAYS TILL 19 OF MAY.
I CANT UNDERSTAND FOR WHAT I WAITING IF ITEM NEVER MOVED
SELLER - NEVER RESPONDING ON MESSAGES
EVRI - CANT GIVE INFORMATION, ONLY SELLER CAN ASK FOR INFORMATION
EBAY - ASKING MORE AND MORE TIME FOR NOTHING
I ASK EBAY FOR PROOF WHAT ITEM COMING (ON THE WAY),BUT EBAY DONT HAVE ANY PROOF BUT ASKING 5 EXTRA DAYS. WHY YOU ASKING IF ITEM NEVER SENDED ????
Absolutely terrible experience on eBay when selling
Absolutely terrible experience selling here on eBay. I sold an item and a buyer got the item in a destroyed condition. As far as I can see in the selling page, eBay covers any loss or damage in transit, and I don't have to do anything. However, the buyer started a return saying the item wasn't as described, and eBay is trying to force me to refund them their money and I just lose the parcel. I cannot claim myself as eBay simple delivery labels aren't eligible, and eBay needs to claim themself. I called them and said this, however they said the case would be put on hold until the 14th of May, which is today, and I got an email saying "Your buyer is ready to return an item". First of all that is extremely misleading, because I don't accept returns, and also because eBay is only siding with the buyer in this. All emails I sent to ebay customer service have been completely ignored, none have been answered. I have called them and a few minutes in each call they hang up and don't ring back. The first email I sent was over 2 weeks ago now and no response, they were meant to respond within 48 hours. My most recent email was 5 days ago, also no response. This is extremely unprofessional and pathetic from eBay. If you force simple delivery, then you need to actually do what you say you'll do like covering for damage. Do not waste your time with eBay like I did.
Ebay is terrible!
Ebay has become like most selling platforms... utter useless. So frustrating I keep getting banned and listing's removed for violating counterfeit policy. When the items are 100% legit. The support service is diabolical, and appealing is not worth wasting your time, because they obviously know what is real and what is not, well I can assure you they don't, they are useless and shit, I seem to find this with most selling platforms today.
A patronizing Company who insult your…
A patronizing Company who insult your intelligence , finally collapsing
So much to condemn about eBay but will keep it short
See how they claim your listings are free?.
Well they're not !
the so-called buyers protection is the fee because, really sellers are paying for it.
Worse so now with their pushing to pass tax information on. No longer viable . Who wants to sell at a loss?
They're obviously not very clever - a lot of people are finally stopping using it after years and years.
One sells off one's things to make ends meet with a few bob not to feed the fat cats of eBay and tax office by selling at a loss and paying for the privilege
EXTREMELY Poor customer service, regard for sellers and heavily AI dependent.
Extremely disappointing experience with eBay as a seller.
My account was permanently suspended for supposedly posing a “risk to the eBay community,” yet no clear explanation was ever provided. Support repeatedly stated they “could not disclose” the reason for the restriction, while another representative directly mentioned “suspicious supplier/listing” concerns — which completely contradicts what I was told before.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I had no policy warnings, no negative feedback, no unresolved disputes, and no suspicious items listed. I had successfully sold a high-value PC without issues and built up dozens of positive reviews from legitimate transactions. Despite this, the account was removed without any meaningful opportunity to respond or clarify concerns.
The customer service experience was honestly one of the worst parts. Calls were abruptly ended, responses felt scripted and AI-generated, and there seemed to be little interest in applying actual logic or reviewing the account fairly. Even attempts to escalate the matter resulted in dismissive treatment rather than proper communication.
The most concerning part is the lack of consistency and transparency. If eBay staff are able to see internal reasons for suspensions, sellers deserve a fair process and clear communication instead of vague automated statements. No seller should have to fear losing years of work and reputation overnight without explanation.
After this experience, I genuinely would not recommend relying too heavily on an eBay store or business. There are countless reports online of long-standing accounts being suddenly restricted with little clarity or support.
Very poor seller support experience overall.
Do not use Ebay international shipping expensive and too long
Do not use Ebay international shipping. It takes a long time and its very expensive.
I paid $127 for ebay international shipping and it took 5 days UPS just to move within USA, then it will be shipped and I have been told up to another 15 days extra to be shipped from USA to UK. I could have had it shipped Fedex for less and it would have taken only 2 days to arrive with me in UK.
What a waste of time
Absolutely terrible experience using Ebay myself, I mostly use amazon for purchases and after using Ebay several times 4 years ago, I had stopped using it.
Now in May 2026, I decide to try Ebay for selling an item, setup the listing, no issues, one hour later, my account is permanently suspended - no clear reason given, nothing to dispute, call customer service, he restates that my account was suspended permanently but can't give me the reason for the suspension....
Avoid using that site at all costs.
The eBay buyer guarantee is worthless
The eBay buyer guarantee is worthless. They do not act to ensure that refunds are made. They allow sellers to cheat buyers and do nothing to ensure buyer satisfaction.
Forced to use simple delivery
Forced to use simple delivery. A real pain for me as I have to travel further to post. On top of that they gets the postage wrong and the recipient get an excess postage charge which I have to refund and eating into my profit and p*ssing off the buyer.
I advise people to use Vinted MUCH MUCH better.
Well done Ebay. Not thought out properly and buggered it up good and proper
