I am very pleased with my installation to say the very least. Covid-19 made the ordering process a bit slow as I had to do my own survey and send pictures of my house, meter cupboard and loft, bu... See more

Disappointed in benefits so far
Installation was quick & not too bad though the driver delivering the panels took a rise out of me; but supplier's suggestion that solar panel power would save me money on my monthly fuel payments hasn't been borne out so far. Also the proposed higher-rated FiT meter wasn't fitted event though an application for it had been submitted to the regional wholesaler, the reason given being that it had been a mistake to propose it in the first place as the lower-rated meter would be more appropriate for my array -- I still don't know if that should be believed or was just an excuse. I'm in favour of domestic solar panel power, but disappointed in benefits so far.

Buying solar panels from E.ON
The E.ON rep who visited us initially was very efficient and not pushy. He explained clearly what was invoved and the estimated returns we might expect from an east facing panel location. Having decided to take up the offer he made the follow up site engineer was soon on the job. The installation took less than a day and was done without fuss. The followup paper work was a little scrambled and it took some time to get all the accurate information for me to accomplish the feed in tarriff side with my electricity supplier.

E.on solar installation
Excellent communication and installation was hassle free and seamless. From the visit of the advisor / surveyor to final fit and billing everything was very professional. The only delay was getting the F. I. T. registered, but this was clearly explained prior to commencent of the installation.

Complete waste of time
Was very impressed by the guy who came to visit and explain the solar package, which made me want to go with Eon. However the guys who came up to do the work were contractors - only their electrician was off sick so i was told they could do half the job and finish off when he was back in work - which was a total waste of time so I had to rearrange another day to do work. Next visit they were all present so cracked on - only there was another problem - brackets supplied were not suitable for my roof tiles to sit flat so they could not continue with job until they got other brackets. Next visit was by the Eon installers who were very efficient, however they tried all the brackets available and none were suitable so unfortunately they could not install solar! I had to have all the electrical work uninstalled and new replacement tiles on roof. The whole process took weeks and time off work which was not ideal, i do think this could have been avoided had the guy who came up on the first visit to do survey - if he had gone up a ladder to check the roof tile and photograph the type of tile - my house is only 1 year old so the tiles are not unusual and i'm sure there must be thousands of other new builds with exactly the same tiles. I think Eon need to do better surveys and have a range of brackets for all types of tiles.

Not even received the product yet.
I have been sent this opportunity to review this service today which was ordered and deposit paid for in December 2018. They have only just sent the G59 off this week to have the supply checked to make sure the line can take the extra voltage.
They say this report is expected back by the 4th of April. The whole point of ordering early and with a large company like Eon was to make sure it was fitted before the government stops paying the tariff at the end of March.
So I can’t review the product only the service so far.

Nobody appears to have control
Nobody appears to have control of the installation and commssioning. There are a group of teams, each good, but the effect on the customer is disconnected.
Alex, if you would like to discuss this then you need to find a way to contact me as Trustpilot doesn't have such a mechanism.

The solar panels have generated a lot of power in the last 10 months. The installation process was smooth and both scaffolders and installers knew what they were doing.

Really difficult experience
Really difficult experience, incomprehensible application form, fragmented support. All’s well that ends well but even so.

Helpful until they have your money
Eon couldn't do more to help you when they were trying to get you to buy the panels.
Once you've bought the panels you are on your own.
They expect you to be able to sort out all the finance details for earning from feed ins.
I didn't have a clue, and it has taken a few months to finally get my feed in tariff sorted. At least I hope it is. All the electric I put back into the grid in those first couple of months I probably won't get paid for.
As I explained each time I tried getting help on the phone you people do this for a living.
I will probably do this once in my lifetime.
EG When I got in contact with Eon to check on the progress in November I was told that Eon couldn't find my account, and had to resubmit confirming my account number, FIT ID number, and the full postal address of the system.
If I had a project manager looking after my account from the outset all the way through to making sure the feed in payments were set up it would be a good system.
As it is I wouldn't recommend Eon for solar panels to anyone.

The initial response was very good and…
The initial response was very good and the technician who came along to do the survey was very helpful and instructive, however that was the best part of the whole deal really. He visited in October and the installation was slated for November, however, although the main control panel was installed fairly quickly and the panels were delivered, the riggers arrived on a shockingly wet and windy day, and were unable to make the installation. They had been scheduled to arrive the following day, (which was of course calm and sunny) but promised to return on the following Sunday. They did not turn up and several days later I was informed that the lead installer was ill, another team would be scheduled. A week or so later no-one had turned up and although we had been phoned several times, apparently, I phoned to enquire what was happening. Dates for installation were proposed, but nothing happened and soon it would be Christmas! I phoned again, and i was promised a visit by the team, who eventually turned up and made the installation on the 21st of December. All we needed now was for the electrician to return to do the hook-up, eventually he turned up to do so, only to discover that the generation meter was missing! So here we are, the 31st of January and maybe, the final installation will be completed on February 6th, fingers crossed. I know that you have stated that you have had difficulties contacting us, but if, instead of ringing off when we are not able to answer the phone, you were to leave a message, then we could have phoned back. It is a pity that I have had to give such a low rating, as I am sure that when finally finished, I will be very happy with the performance. The behaviour of all contractors and people on the phones has always been courteous and helpful, however the service has been chaotic to say the least.

Due to my system being fitted in a low sun period December I havnt been evaluate the full potential think the experience applying for the solar fit has been the worse experience took 2 months before the application was even confirmed back to me from sse this being after constant complaints to them not easy at this point not sure if I have made the right decision to have it installed but I must say the installers a part of eon did do a good job.

Installation very good.
Installation was very efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful and tidy.
The only problem was with the sub- contracted scaffolding, which took a lot of reminders to get taken away and caused some damage.( since rectified and paid for by the scaffolding company).

Solar Panels
I had my system fitted at the end of August, and submitted my FIT application as soon as I received it. To date, 5 months on, I am still waiting for any documentation or refund for the energy which the system has generated and sent into the National Grid.
In this instance, no recommendations will be submitted.

Panel fitting ok - feed in tariff application poor
Panel fitting not an issue but trying to apply for the FiIT application is a nightmare. I had panels fitted in June and I’m still waiting for approval for application

The installation was painful! Communication poor
The installation was painful. The communication was shocking. Electrician did not arrive at the same time as panel install for some reason but nobody advised me or the panel installers. Secondly I had to chase to get this complete. In the end was sorted but for the kind of money you spend for this it should be a better service. Eon feel free to call me to discuss

Excellent from beginning to end
The whole experience has been very easy, from a clear and non-pressured initial consultation to the panels being installed. Highly recommended
