After four years of purchasing records from SSD, I got sick and tired of their policy of advertising "new releases" and then taking six months to fill an order. Last year I wrote a scathing review an... See more

Terrible communications. They shipped 2/3 of my order and refuse to ship the other 1/3, or even bother to respond to my multiple emails telling me why. Garbage customer service. Avoid.

Not the best recorded quality

I realize few people in the mid sixties had high end stereo systems. But, I also know from other recordings that the industry was capable of producing quality vinyl. This Four Tops LP sounds "OK" - if you don't turn the volume up too much. If you try to blast it even a little, the severely compressed dynamic range is apparent. I don!t know if the original master tapes were that poor (I doubt it) or this LP was pressed on worn out equipment. I should have noted the fact that it was not advertised as remastered, even though they charged a remastered price for it. That part is my own fault. In any case, the bottom line is this: if you just want to listen to these great songs on some record player, go ahead and buy it. However, if you have any kind of audiophile system and you're looking to rock out at some volume, I think you'll be disappointed.

Would be 5 stars if....

Love the service, products, and packaging. The only thing that prevents me from buying more is the free shipping. It must be FedEx or UPS, USPS is just not good enough to ship high quality LPs. Maybe the free shipping options get better if we spend more than $100.

Sound Stage Direct - very happy with their product & service

My first time purchasing from Sound Stage Direct was a good one. I recently got back into vinyl with a new record player for Christmas and had no vinyl to play. so, I've bought remasters and used LPs from various sources. Sound Stage Direct offers new/remastered at a good price and delivers it with great packaging. Quality of the sound is excellent. thank you!

Helpful customer service, great discounts!

Every once in a while Soundstage will not have an item in stock that I have purchased, but they are always very helpful in such situations. They notify you quickly and give you a choice of a refund or a store credit for any items they cannot provide. Their regular discounts are also very nice!

Almost 5 Stars!

Price was right especially with a promo code offered. Didn't get gouged on the shipping. Appreciated they offered the option of opening the sleeve so that the album cover/seam would not be damaged. Record album arrived on time and it was nice to have the tracking system. Only negative is that the record appears warped. It is very obvious when it is moving around on the turntable. Luckily the sound quality does not seem to be affected at all.

The Best

I have dealt with hundreds of companies, and Sound Stage Direct really understands how to treat their customers. Honestly, I had a few bumps along the way. You have to understand that this happens to companies everywhere, no matter what their advertised "promise" is. What sets SSD apart is how they handled them. Promptly, courteously and professionally. The owner (who I have dealt with personally) has created a culture of EXCELLENT customer care. They LOVE what they do, and music is a big part of their lives. They have earned my loyalty.

Right feeling. Wrong shipping.

I really enjoyed aspects of the experience. I love a company that cares about the industry, especially if niche, but, when it takes 4 days to process an order... What's the point? The packaging was great but it took way longer than Amazon after I paid through the taint for expedited shipping. I work in a shipping department and know damn well what it takes to process an order. Wony go through these homies again unless I absolutely have to.

Vinyl is Final

The fine folks at SoundStageDirect should make it be your only record store. And that is my FINAL answer!!

Long wait.

Took almost 2 weeks from time of order to receive product. Tracking shows it languished in the warehouse for a week after order. That kinda sucks. Had to leave town during time of delivery so haven't been able to open the package yet.

Great company for vinyl!

This was my first order from Sound Stage Direct, and I am completely happy. The record had the most protective packaging that I have seen for mail order. This is a very trusted vinyl dealer!
