Safe and secure

I appreciate the pop up's regarding scams and full protection you offer. Its easy to install and upgrade any time. Your program works very well and I have been a member for many years with no issues at all. Thank you keep up the great work.

The biggest threat to my laptop's security is... Avast!

I made the mistake of buying this piece of software to keep my laptop free of nuisance pop-ups, virus threats and the like. It was a decent desal and was simple to install. What I did not reckon on was the CONSTANT attempts to get me to upgrade my purchase to the so-called 'Premium' version. The odd pop-up I can cope with, but when it comes to a BARRAGE OF FAKE THREAT ALERTS, all warning of dire consequences if you don't buy the all-singing, all-dancing version of the programme imminent disaster will befall you, then I get really pissed!

The charade is clearly designed to get you to panic-buy what is probably what they should have sold you in the first place. You can't easily get rid of the alerts, either. No sooner do you close one than another appears,. You close that and another appears. You close that... and so on, ad infinitum. THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE! Close down and restart your machine. That tends to do the trick. If it doesn't, do what I have done and uninstall the utter load of rubbish and swallow the con, I mean cost...

In short, if you install Avast One, be prepared to be bullied into buying the upgrade by way of sneaky, underhand and insidious scare tactics. DO NOT FALL FOR IT! Better still, steer clear altogether. You'll save yourself a great deal of stress and aggravation.

Don't walk, run.

Run. We're senior citizens on a fixed income and this company uses scare tactics that I have to admit worked on us for awhile until we talked to a fellow we know in the computer business. They will "nickel and dime" you into the poorhouse. Your situation on this is critical, only $2.99 a month to protect you, then your situation on that is critical, only $3.99 a month to protect you, NEVER telling you everything you need and what an inclusive package would cost us... When I went and looked, I'd signed up to address SIX different "critical" threats with monthly automatic deductions, including Avast "Premium," (all needing to be renewed at different times of the year) which I had foolishly interpreted as taking care of everything. And I got still another this week.

I have used Avast for a good number of years but now I have had enough. It was great up to a couple of years ago when I began to receive warnings about threats to my security. And advice on how to handle the security threats. Add this, update and subscribe to that and everything fine again, until the next time. I thought I was covered with the things that they were now telling me that I am not covered for this, that or the other. £40 here, £50* there plus more expense to get the best security. The subscriptions I did have were automatically renewed at various times, which made it difficult for me to keep on top of my income and outgoings.
Don’t expect to speak to a human. Although I was told that I would be passed on to someone however, I was 99% sure that too was a bot. 😡
Avast keep sending emails to say that they are unable to obtain a payment from my bank. That’s because I cancelled the DD after I informed them via email and the so called human- bot 🙄that I was unsubscribing.
Was very happy with Avast once upon a time. Not anymore. They’ve made it too complicated, misleading, and expensive.

I thought I was paying a dollar something a month but you charged me the full amount. I have been unable to get to the main page to ask for an explanation. I've had to change my pass word 3 times and still can't get in!!! I am not a happy camper!!

The overall setup is logical but somewhat "split up" with many services as extra-abonnement. Program works well but careful with driver updates, that may create some compute hickups. In my case, the audio driver update on Lenovo notebooks led to loss of speakers and old settings were not retrieveable.

Near total protection for a very fair nominal fee (even a free program), and they're protecting my phones, too. I challenged hackers & Nigerian scammers types to just try, hoping most will soon give up, and LOL at their schemes now.
