I would not buy another item from this store if they were the only ones open. We had a three seater and two seater recliner sofas from them and after a few months of use one seat failed into a dip... See more

very bad experience
I bought my three seater Angelic sofa and chair from DFS and one month later I noticed that it is not comfortable at all. Just after 5 min sitting I was on the edge. Also I had to bash the cushions every 30 min otherwise it looks so old. I phoned them and lady on the phone was really polite but the big disappointment was the male who seems not interested to help me. After six months they decided to change the cushions but I had to pay them extra so I gave up and I would never buy anything from them and I will do my best to spread the word as I am doing now.
Shocking customer service !!!
I ordered a corner sofa from DFS in November. When I ordered it I was told it would be delivered the beginning of December. The same week I moved into my new home, which worked perfectly. That date has now been and gone and having been told lies after lies from the store and head office I am still waiting for my sofa the week before Xmas. I plan to cancel this sofa would rather give my money to a much better company then give anything to dfs. Trying to buy a sofa has become more stressful then buying a house.
Lies
Bought two sofas in black Friday event. Sales man promised 'guaranteed delivery within two weeks'. When the two weeks were coming to an end we called for an update, woman said it is not guaranteed within two weeks and it is not mentioned on the paper work either. So he lied to our faces. He said it was likely the new sofas would arrive within days so we disposed of the old ones asap. Have now been without any sofas during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Absolutely furious - and the delivery cost over £50!
beware finance agreements
On the other DFS review site, the one that features solicited reports,, C. Ross advised that he had the misfortune of finding that because he had altered orders he had 3 finance agreements running. This made me think as we had negotiated a reduction on our order because DFS had caused us a lot of hassle re delivery and the items we had ordered were now in the sale. Yes guess what we had 2 agreements running! We are in the process of getting one cancelled so thank you C. Ross for drawing my attention to this. Can I suggest anybody whose order changed check with the finance company if you have used one. You can call them direct.
Is anybody else who has reviewed DFS to their disadvantage getting annoyed with the constant stream of over the top glowing reports that appear in block when bad reports have appeared? They make me feel that my/any complaint is not taken seriously. I am sure these glowing reports are solicited and my question is should they be investigated?
Dfs sofas
We bought a sofa from DFS 3 years ago, already one corner of the sofa is threadbare. DFS have sent out customer service engineer to look at the damage. The engineer concluded the reason this has happened is because we sit on the sofa. You are only allowed to sit on DFS sofa's in a certain position. Do not buy a sofa from DFS if you want to sit on it. I will go to the press about this report as I feel everyone should know.
Terrible
My sofa arrived with scuffs and scratches and imprints in the leather where it was scored. Ten months later after they admitted losing the replacement parts and apparently they lost them in the bin, they've been out and the repairs are not as agreed . I had two arms replaced a whole leather replacement on one of the sofas, and I was meant to have foam inserted, they put a small piece of foam in the middle of my sofa rather than the full length of it. So now I sit at an angle. Very uncomfortable. I'm now chasing again for them to come back. I would never suggest buying from this company, no matter how good the deal looks it is the beginning of the end of your patience. I wish I had found this review site before I purchased my sofa. Cowboy outfit that needs sorting
Very poor customer service
Very poor customer service!!!! if you have a problem, they will bounce you around and never sort it out!
It's the same with all the branches!!
Including head office
Always one answer
We will call you tomorrow!
(DFS) Dodgy Flipping Sofas
Will never buy from them again. My leather sofa doesn't allow me to put my hands on the furniture as the oil in my skin discolours the leather. The cushions don't last five minutes before collapsing. Worst buy I have ever made. One very unsightly and uncomfortable sofa now in my lounge The word 'Flipping' in the title may be substituted as you see fit!
Sofa shopping
Visited DFS in Purley & the sales staff were awful. Very rude, very selfish and couldn't answer a question without checking first! Zero confidence gained do returned to Sofa Works up the road instead. They were at a complete different level and now feel very pleased that we didn't buy through DFS.
ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL!
We ordered two 4 seater Balmoral sofas plus foot stool from the DFS Norwich store but when they were delivered the colour was far from what we expected. We took the foot stool back and compared it with the swatch in the store and the deputy sales manager, Dan, responded magnificently, agreeing with us and involving his manager. We were offered replacements for the whole order in any colour we liked. We now have the replacement sofas and footstool in place and they look and feel splendid. The only other problem we encountered with the whole process was getting DFS Cambridge, which was delivering the products, to put our correct contact telephone number in their records. It took six attempts to do this and their inability to get it right caused one failed delivery and considerable stress all round. However the delivery men, when they eventually came, were very good. Overall it has left us with a very good feeling about DFS's preparedness to fix problems drawn to their attention.
Will never buy again
After being promised in store that the corner group was 100% leather and even paying extra to get an upgraded quality of leatehr to last longer, who are they kidding.
After 3 months the colour is wearing off on two of the cushions and the back has melted by being to close to the radiator.
Their customer service is appaling told that they arent 100% leather and should have read the ticket, maybe the sales person should have read it as well and that the colour loss is due to abrasive damage and this they can tell from looking at two photographs I took on my mobile phone. They are happy to replace the items free of charge as long as I pay for the replacement parts as we didnt take out the 5 year service plan. I didnt think I would have to on a £2000 suite, I've had cheaper settees for over 10 years that look in better condition than this after 3 months.
I will never buy from them again and I would strongly recommend that nobody else does either
Please, don't use them!!
They will take your money with a smile, and if you have a problem, they will bounce you around and never sort it out! Move on to another retailer that cares!!
Easi-gliders - SAVE YOUR MONEY - Dont Bother !
After DFS cleverly omitting to advise that the Bachelor Sofa was so heavy it is almost unmoveable, we had no choice but to spend £60 on easy-gliders, video evidence on DFS website shows a lady easily moving her sofas, the salesman assured us they would work on carpet, but they are absolutely hopeless. One came off first time we attempted to move a sofa. We need access into a cupboard regularly and just cant get the sofa moved easily so going to end up in an injury which we hoped the easygliders would avoid. Advice from TS - goods are meant to be fit for purpose... and work as advertised - just registered a complaint with DFS as they certainly 'don't do' as we were led to believe
So don't believe what you see on the DFS website or what the salesmen tell you if you have a carpet. AVOID !
Very poor furniture and service
The worst suite I have every seen!! I purchased a leather suite in 2013. After 3 months the colour started to peel off and the stitching came undone. After being repaired once (which took 8 months to do) the same happened again within weeks, but this time it was no longer covered by the insurance. Apparently it is due to sweat and oils from the skin, and your not supposed to sit on the settee for more than 2 hours a day! Therefore there's is nothing DFS or Castelan, the insurance company will do (even though bodily fluids should be covered by insurance). Very poor customer service and the manager Phil Evans was very rude. I strongly advise you to steer clear of DFS!! I am still paying for the suite.
Failure to Manage Basic Client Expectations
Order Confirmation (L13603937) clearly stipulates that as of 24/03/2015, the "delivery will be in approximately 6 weeks". I received verbal reassurance at the time of sale that orders usually take less than 6 weeks to be delivered. After at least two SMS's (on 13/04/2015 and 28/04/2015) indicating that the Order was "scheduled to arrive on time" and no further correspondence from DFS, I contacted them on 13/05/2015 and was met with apathy, argumentative excuses and empty apologies. DFS did not provide a revised Order Confirmation and have actually claimed that the delivery date of 24 May 2015 (almost 9 weeks later) is somehow still reasonably within above mentioned tolerance... How long has DFS been selling, producing and distributing furniture? Poor show DFS.
ADVOID
I bought an Item from DFS and It took 3 months to arrive and when It did arrive it was faulty, when I contacted them their customer service was unacceptable.
I have since gotten my money back under the Sales of Goods act which allows you to be protected for 6 months. If the item is unfit for purpose or faulty.
Avoid this company and go to Sofaworks.
BAD SERVICE
I PURCHASED A 3 SEATER SOFA, FROM THIS STORE AND WAS TOLD FROM THE SALES ASSISTANCE, THAT THE ARMS WERE REMOVABLE, WHEN THE DELIVERY MEN ARRIVED 4 WEEKS AFTER
WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE ARMS ARE NOT REMOVABLE, AFTER THEY TOOK THE BALANCE OF MY MONEY,STILL DECIDED TO ORDER THEN A 2 SEATER INSTEAD, THEY DECIDE TO SEND A SURVEY TO MEASURE IF A 2 SEATER WILL FIT, IN THE PROCESSE OF THIS THEY SENT ME A LOAN SOFA, ONLY THING GOOD THAT CAME OUT OF IT, OTHER THAN TO RETURN THIS LOAN SOFA I HAD PAY THE COST MYSELF, BECAUSE THE DAY THEY WANTED TO COLLECT THE SOFA WAS TO LATE FOR ME AS I HAD A NEW SOFA COMING FROM ANOTHER COMPANY.
I WOULD NITHER RECCOMEND OR PURCHASE EVER AGAIN FROM THIS COMPANY. SUCH A LARGE COMPANY AS THIS, ALL YOUR SALES ASSISTANCE SHOULD NOT GIVE FALSE INFORMATION TO BUYERS THEY SHOULD KNOW A FULL DESCIPTION OF EACH ITEM THAT THEY ARE SELLING, NOT TO BE TOLD AFTER FROM THE MANAGER THAT EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES, THEY ARE NOT GETTING PAID TO MAKE MISTAKES OF SUCH, FURTHER MORE A UPSET CUSTOMER DOES NOT EXACTLY WANT TO HER THIS.
DFS Casa Mila sofas
We purchased two medium Casa Mila sofas in November 2013 but one of them suffered badly from perspiration on one arm and on the cushions by September 2014. Guardsman said that their insurance policy didn't cover perspiration stains and DFS said it was our problem so be very careful if you are considering buying from the Casa Mila range because one has to question the material used if it soils after one summer, and also consider using an insurer that covers perspiration stains under "body fluids". Live and learn by our mistake.
An update on our persperation stains. On February 23 2015, DFS recovered the arm and replaced four cushions, supplied and fitted, for £150 which I thought was pretty good.
Wonky wobbly sofa legs!
Firstly I cant fault the customer service we received! It was 5 star. We ordered our sofa back in April but were refused finance so its taken us 6mths to pay for the sofa and foot stool which we fell in love with in the spring sale.
Finally, this morning it arrived! I was so excited when my hubby phoned me to say it was "here" and how fabulous it looked...only he didnt say that... he said "its arrived, but the back leg on the sofa has had to be screwed in wonky because the baton on the main frame of the sofa hasnt been made square like all the others, according to the delivery men. Oh and the footstool legs (2 front and back) are wobbly and loose despite two attempts by the deliver guys to tighten them so we cant use it. Oh and the gliders we've paid a small fortune for to protect out floor from scratching havent all been delivered and the middle leg of the sofa is missing the glider cushion! But apart from that it looks really nice!"
I am absolutely gutted! I fear that the resolution for this will be a long one. DFS have informed me they'll ask a Service Manager to come and look it at next week. Brilliant. Here's an idea, take it away and deliver me one I ordered to the spec I expected!!!!! NOT HAPPY!
A shocking response to our nightmare from DFS!
Thank you Lauren and Matthew for getting back to me, I did hold out some hope that our dreadful experience would focus your companies response but sadly yet a further insult was presented, compensation is a unpleasant word and concept exploited all over the world, yet some cases do occur that require a company or retailer to make these steps, off course this is an individual or managerial decision based on policy, but as is each case relating to the customer and his/her purchase or contract experience. Over a three month period, we had to return a, "non fit for purpose leather corner group sofa", and then received almost daily harassment from DFS via phone calls by an unprofessional, aggressive and rude member of the DFS staff ending in a further aggressive phone call from said member to my wife on the day of delivery, witnessed by the DFS delivery driver and his colleague, resulting in my wife suffering from irregular breathing and chest pains caused by stress, concludes that an offer of £30 which represents over a period of 76 days the princely sum of 39p per day in relation to DFS's concept of compensation is simply disgusting and has only reinforced our endeavour to warn, educate and inform would be future customers. I would be ashamed to deal with customers in this fashion and would find it ethically and morally opposed to my beliefs and approach to valued members of the public and would-be customers, thankfully within my employment our policy is customer and public based and non profit focused, I conclude that we will never determine DFS as a point of purchase again!
