You charged me more than what your site listed at my time of choosing. Why wasnt I able to confirm my total price before pressing the final purchase button? Thats fraudulent and false advertising. My trip protection was supposed to be $14 for 2 days and I was charged $42. My flight was listed at $412 but I was charged $425. Not cool.

Multiple over charges and complete radio silence after being challenged
I would avoid booking through SmartFares based on my experience.
I encountered two separate billing issues. First, I was charged more than the price displayed when I made my booking. Then, after a weather-related flight delay outside my control, SmartFares charged me an additional AUD 525.72 to “reissue” my tickets. When I later spoke with Japan Airlines staff, they said they had never heard of such a fee.
What frustrated me most was the customer service. Once I provided evidence and challenged the charges, communication largely stopped. SmartFares also told me they would refund part of the money, but that refund never arrived and my follow-up emails went unanswered.
Based on my experience, I won’t use SmartFares again and would strongly recommend booking directly with the airline or through a more reputable travel agent.
