Don’t do it. Cheap insurance but lots of problems.
Except for Marshmallow insurance this company has to be the worst van insurance ever. There is no way of speaking to anyone unless you want to cancel, even when trying to cancel. They will try everything not to give you back your money including charging you another £65 cancellation fee.
After many emails trying to sort this out by sending all the relevant documentation, which I add have been sent except for a utility bill as I am not a utility holder in the household. I have given them driving license driving license reference number so they can look me up and look at my picture, my personal unique tax reference code confirming my address, last insurance details with my address. Everything I have sent has my address on yet they will not let the Insurance run because I do not have a utility bill. They also keep saying I’m on a direct debit when the insurance was paid in full.
They won’t let me cancel my policy but have emailed me to let me know that if I do not send a utility bill within seven days they will cancel the policy. So if they cancel the policy, surely I don’t have to pay a cancellation fee? Anyway, this is definitely a company. I would not recommend. I’m not even sure that this is the proper Swinton company as it appears they are in South Africa?
It’s true what they say if it’s too good to be true it probably is and you should stay away from it. Cheap Insurance is not worth all this hassle.

It is iniquitous that Swinton want to…
It is iniquitous that Swinton want to charge an extra £80 on the offer, which I had accepted, because someone backed into my stationary car for which they claimed on their insurance, two years and a half yers ago. I made no claim and it wasn’t my fault or accident. Their insurance Admiral paid everything.
Now, they want a £40 cancellation cost/charge.

I wanted to clarify that when applying for an insurance policy, it is standard practice for insurance companies to check the CUE database to access any claims history. CUE is a central database that holds information on all insurance claims and incident reports made by policyholders. If the information disclosed does not match what the database confirms, we ask for you to contact us to discuss this in more detail. When updating the information to match the CUE database, this can affect the premium you were originally quoted. We apologise if this was not made clear to you during the conversation you had with us.
The £40 administration fee is outlined in our terms of business which is available to view prior to the policy being accepted, but I realise this doesn't make the situation any less frustrating for you.

Really great service
Really great service, using their website was very straightforward, they beat my renewal quote by £40 so I added the Rac breakdown cover and it all can to less than my old motorbike insurance. Overall very pleased.

Additional hidden charges
When seeking quotes for my Insurance, I was extremely frustrated with the way your website opens up with a number of additionally costed options in some cases for what would normally be included in any normal insurance quote i.e. full windscreen repair was extra . This approach is not disimilar to that when booking an airline seat for £1 and by the time you’ve added it on your seat reservation your luggage and your security access it cost £1000. In my opinion this is slightly underhand and shouldn’t be conducted by a company with as much history as yours.
