If you are not a large company with strong cash flow or enough money to take legal action against them, I strongly recommend avoiding this payment provider.
Here is my experience:
I signed up with Mollie and everything initially seemed fine. They manually reviewed and approved my website, my business, and my bank account. At that point, everything looked professional and trustworthy. They also advertised payout delays of only a few days.
However, after receiving just two Klarna orders, I was shocked to discover that the payout delay had suddenly become around 45 working days (approximately 65 normal days). This was completely unacceptable and was never clearly mentioned beforehand.
I contacted support multiple times to understand the situation. Their customer support is extremely difficult to reach, the chatbot is useless, and they often take a very long time to reply when they do not want to answer your questions.
Eventually, they told me that my account had been classified as “high risk” and therefore they could not release my funds before that date. I continued to challenge this because their Terms & Conditions do not clearly mention such extreme delays. I even showed the contract to a lawyer, who considered these practices abusive.
After that, they kept requesting more and more documents: invoices, tracking links, proof of delivery, etc. Even though the products had already been delivered successfully and there were absolutely no chargebacks or disputes, Mollie arbitrarily decided to close my account.
Then they informed me by email that my funds would only be released 6 months later, provided there were no chargebacks. This is completely unreasonable.
As a small business, I had no choice but to start a legal procedure using the European Small Claims process.
I prepared and signed the documents with all supporting evidence and sent them to the Amsterdam court, which thankfully accepted my claim and initiated proceedings against Mollie.
After that, Mollie finally agreed to pay me on the extended payout date they had imposed. But even then, they still failed to pay on time, claiming there were “technical issues.” I only received the money several days later after sending even more emails.
Overall, this has been an extremely stressful and disappointing experience. I personally do not recommend Mollie, especially for small businesses that depend on reliable cash flow.
