Poorly equipped unprofessionals
From start to finish, our experience with Movee and City Removalists & Storage was traumatic.
We booked for a move to arrive at 8 am. At 9:30 am we proactively called Movee and were told that the original subcontractors were unable to fulfil the job. New subcontractors were assigned and would be arriving at midday.
City Removalists were assigned the job. Two men (unmasked) arrived 40 minutes late. It took 3 hours to load half the apartment, during which one of the men fell sick and spent over 20 minutes ill in our bathroom.
The men were so ill-equipped to handle the job – a small, dirty truck with broken tail lift, no ramp, and few protective blankets. The men struggled so much that my partner eventually became their third unofficial removalist. At one point, he even decided to became a human ramp, lifting an entire fridge on his back because the men did not have the strength nor the means to raise the fridge into the truck.
Due to the delay, we drove through peak-hour traffic and given the size of the truck (even despite our detailed inventory provided to Movee), a second trip had to be made. In total over 9 hours to move a 1 bed, 1 study apartment 16kms, from St Leonard’s to Carlingford.
After the second trip, and 3/4 through the unloading, one of the removalists hands me the phone to talk to his boss, Sandro. It is now 9.40pm. I diplomatically relay facts about the poor experience to which he is completely unwilling to take accountability or apologise for any inconvenience caused. In fact, the conversation ended with him rudely telling me “you have 5 minutes to pay or we lock up the truck and take your furniture.” We were texted bank account details to make a transfer, which I promptly did under the pressure and sent him a screenshot. He called back and told us that “this account does not take transfers” and sent us another set of BSBs and account numbers. We refused to pay a second time fearing fraudulent activity. The men promptly took our belongings and left at 10pm.
The next morning, we again contacted Movee after 3 emails were sent with no response and demanded they take ownership of the situation. Exhausted and mentally defeated, we cancelled the original bank transfer and repaid via credit card over the phone, conceding to an inadequate discount of $300. In addition, we were originally quoted $105 per hour, to which we were later told that this was a “system glitch” and that the rate was $130/hour.
We received the rest of our belongings the next day at 3 pm, again disappointed when we noticed a massive scratch on our dining table, torn seams on the side of our mattress and part of our bbq completely broken.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY NOR CITY REMOVALISTS.
I am considering making an official complaint with the ACCC.
Honestly disgusted and appalled by my experience with Movee
I wish I could give this company zero. I know there are stereotypes about working with Removalists as not being the best experience but I’m truly disgusted at this company.
This is what happened:
1. The loading ramp of the truck was not working and the movers were not able to use it. This increased the risk of damage to my furniture. When I called Movee twice, I was lied to twice that this was a miscommunication and the truck was working. When the truck arrived at the last location, it was clear that the loading ramp was not working. Not only did this increase the risk of damage to my furniture, it definitely added time on to the moving job.
2. The movers did not have strap or rope to tie my furniture down. At the first location, my mum in had to give them rope. I called Movee about this issue and again I was lied to and was told that this was a miscommunication and that the movers did have a strap. Once again, when the truck arrived at the last location, it was clear there was no strap as they had only used the rope my mum provided to tie down my furniture.
3. The movers mishandled my microwave and when I tried to correct him he continued to mishandle it. This interaction would’ve looked comical if I wasn’t living through this. Upon opening the microwave, it was damaged.
4. A drawer was stepped on and broken.
5. The movers were clearly inexperienced as my mum had to give them tips on how to properly handle my furniture. Again, this added time to the moving job.
I called Movee after this and they referred me to an email address. I emailed and followed up after a week when I didn’t receive a reply. It’s been another week and I still haven’t received a response.
Do not work with this company.
They charged me for a three men job…
They charged me for a three men job when actually two men showed up. I've asked them for a refund several times and no one has responded to my emails yet. I called their customer service several times and they told me that a refund was going to be processed within 14 days (14 days was last week Thursday 25th November 2021). I checked my account tonight and didnt see funds (redund) in the account. I don't understand why it's taking them long to return my money. Other companies I've used, have refunded money within 2 business days but this one doesn't. I will not use them again because I dont trust them.

Do not use these mob. They are dodgy. They charged a 5 hour job for three and threatened two females. Rang the cops to intervene. Please do not use! I am very traumatised by this experience! How can a business operate like this! It was an absolute disgrace!
Woeful experience
Woeful experience. Didn’t respond to complaints until my 8th call and 6th email even after I told them one of the removalists had thrown up in my bathroom!! They canceled my booking in the morning and sent an absolute cowboy outfit round who charged $1600 to spend 10 hours moving a 2 bed apartment who also damaged a $4000 bbq and a $2000 sofa. Do not use these guys
I booked a move with Movee for the 23…
I booked a move with Movee for the 23 Nov, they asked what was to be moved, I told them a two bedroom house, outside furniture and pot plants , I rang the day before move to check what time they would be coming was told between seven and nine .
The day of the move still waiting for truck at 10.30 ,had
No phone call from them so I ring and the female tells me the truck has broken down and won’t be arriving until between 12- 3pm , I tell her they had better send another truck ,she says she will try.
Phone call from them at about 1pm to say they are sending a truck it arrives and I knew it was too small to
Move my house so I say take the beds etc which they start to move,only about half of my goods went in the truck ,so I ask when will you move the rest of it and get told they won’t be able to unless it’s out of hours.
No discount for the stuff up and then they take the money out of my card as I had paid $100 deposit , so they had my details, I’m going further with this ,it is a big take ,they didn’t finish the job,I had to book another removal company who finished the job.
Please do not book the removal company.
HASSLERS! all I wanted was a quote
I got a quote from Movee and received a call which I missed so they sent a text with the quote as well as an email.
Cool!! I got exactly what I wanted.
Then I get another call that I missed due to work, message and email but was fine as I knew the price and hadn’t a move date so didn’t need anything else.
Then I get a call which I answer, I politely tell them that we have got everything finalised and we’re waiting until we knew our move date and we’d be in touch if we wanted to book.
I received another call, I told them the same thing and said “not to call again as we hadn’t had anything set”
I received another call!!! I told them how I’ve received at least 3 calls, 2 texts and 2 emails and we can’t book anything as we don’t have an official moving date and to take me off their call list.
Yet again, ANOTHER CALL!!!! Straight up I said “you keep calling me and I’ve told the other 3 callers not to and we’ve gone and booked our own truck elsewhere because you keep hassling me, good bye!”
If they call again!! I will be reporting them!

Diabolical nightmare
Diabolical nightmare. Wilfully slow and lazy, incompetent and untrained. So much damage to both properties ( floors gouged and ripped up and benches scratched, door frames and walls) and my furniture (scratches, gouged, broken stunts, greasy marks that won’t come out, chipped corners, missing parts). Drove up a one way street the wrong way and parked on wrong side of road abs refused to move. Many many cigarette breaths. Half packed trucks. Deliberate spreading out the job to charge $100s of dollars extra. Calling Movee to ask Who these people where and what was going on and was also useless as no help there. They subcontract to anyone. Told me that my furniture was old anyway… no kidding, it’s mid century modern and is highly valued. Moved my beautiful liquor cabinet on the dude no blanket and dragged it over a concrete step scratching the side very severely. Absolutely disgusting. Absolute scam. Total crooks and half my belongings are left behind.
No care. No responsibility. I’m demanding a refund for the debate to both properties and my furniture and fir the absolute false advertisement of providing a professional moving service.
The worst experience I have ever had
It was supposed to be on Saturday for a one bedroom to a one bedroom with 10 minutes drive distance. The removalists arrived with a small truck( we thought it is coles delivery truck). When we asked the company for a bigger truck they said we have to wait for their call. They called their own drivers so many times but every time they said they can not contact us( we were next to the driver but they did not ask him to pass the phone to us and talk to us even) . The driver came to the room and reluctantly looked at the furniture said it is difficult moving these furniture ( normal leather 3 seater, 2 one sitter) finally after 30 min and no answer ir a call , the drivers left us without noticing us or telling any thing! They just left the place without saying anything. We called the centre again and they said they can send one big truck tomorrow . Tomorrow we were sent a bigger truck and the price was supposed to be 130 per hour including tax. When they finished their job( in the middle of the bringing the furniture to the new house, they asked for the money and in cash and they charged us 140 per hour excluding tax those slow man and a teenager, suddenly got so quick. Tomorrow we called them as we found that the Tv has been broken and it does not show anything except some lines and a hole in one side of the screen and about the charge. They said that they pay the extra money we have been charged and they work on the Tv but it takes 30 days to decide ( telling you that when I called them with my phone, it was not picked up after half an hour waiting on the line but as soon as I called with another number they picked up quickly). After a month and half not only no results, they even do not answer their emails written to them.
They took 2 days, extra 100 charge and one broken Tv and no answer. The worst experience I have ever had moving house.

We booked the move nearly 2 weeks in advance, confirmation text came through the afternoon previous stating the movers would arrive between 7am & 9am- all seemed good-to-go. Oh but WAIT!!
- 5am morning of the move, we received a text to say the movers had been delayed and they would arrive between 10:30 & 11am.
We call to confirm, told they would be sending a different crew - we simply requested them to be professional, clean and have all the equipment required to move. THEY DID NOT
- Two young gents show up in a rental van, 4 blankets and a dolly...no tie straps, no barriers/wraps. As they entered our front foyer, they pushed the too far and broke our blind cover (picture attached) - no apology or recognition of the damage
This isn't even the worst part yet...
-THEY WERE NOT WEARING MASKS (which is the freaking LAW!) - They refused to wear masks when we requested & expected to continue their work in our home - NO WAY HOESAY!
- After we sent them away (clearly not professional, trained or knew what they were doing) - we phoned the company office, promptly transferred to a "National Head Office" which then transferred us back to the local Vic office - We simply wished to cancel all services, requested a refund of our deposit and requested they pay for the damages to our property.
- We submitted an "online feedback form" to request a refund - which is still processing...
- We have reported them to local police, to the government regulators and local COVID-19 Marshall.
Moral of the Story: If you want an awful, regrettable and not-so-memorable experience with a moving company, give this unique, non-compliant and unprofessional company a call!

Do you want to have the worst moving experience of your life?! THAT'S WHAT THEY DELIVERED!
They work as a platform like Uber, but worst, without any support, allowing partners (contractors) have multiple subcontractors, in the point that they sent tow removalixts without ANY skill to perform the job!
They charge minimum of 2.5 hours of work, and in the end I had to sent the workers home and finish the job by myself, they were useless. Dropped multiple items, they were non-professional at all, they kept asking me how much I earn, how much is the rent or if the property was mine, they asked me to help them to carry the things. I was paying $135 per hour to have the job done, they didn't finish!
The nightmare started when they lied about the time of arrival, taking more than 1h delay to get in the property. I had to manage multiple building managers and workers to do the moving and the removalixts where 100% not reliable!
I contacted Movee asking for support and after 2 calls they started to ignore all my contacts, until they called me asking for the payment.
The removalixts sent to my place didn't even know how to get into the drop off location, so I had to jump in the truck to guide them. They stopped in the CT Market on the middle of the job and asked me for $10 to buy cigarettes! And they started to smoke while driving.
It was ridiculous the whole situation, the support of Movee is terrible, the providers in the "platform" are not trustworthy.
I moved many times getting a van and doing with my friends, and it was way better.
All the instructions provided to Movee about the size of the truck needed and how to perform the job due the buildings regulations were completely ignored!
In the end I had damages on the building, they completely destroyed a microwave, damaged furniture (due the non skill and not caring for the service), were completely not professional and on the following day after moving I received calls from the removalists, and from someone els asking for payment. I contacted Movee and the team member was just saying: I understand your disappointment and "have a nice day".
Literally, this company opened this year (You can look on ABN lookout) and I am already generating a report to go to VCAT to make a proper complaint.
DON'T DO YOUR JOB WITH MOVEE! Unless if you want the WORST EXPERIENCE OF YOUR LIFE!

Did our move with the team from Movee, and quite frankly, they were fabulous! Arrived on time, packed everything so that it was all delivered safely, asked questions when unsure about a particular item, smiled, chatted with us, worked like maniacs but related like friends. Can’t thank them enough!

By the time they arrived at the storage facility it was closed which resulted in me being called multiple times at 8pm

It took 11 HOURS and three people to move my 2-bedroom flat. When I moved in - with the same amount of stuff - it took two people three hours.

After the first two hours when I expressed some concerns about the amount of time it was taking, the foreman suggested I get a third person to speed up the process. Off the books.
I did and now I feel like a complete fool.
I have no idea what these three were doing whilst I was madly cleaning, scrubbing and touching up paint, but when I moved in - with the same amount of stuff - it took two people three hours.
If the lovely manager at Storage King Fairfield (onya Wayne, you absolute legend) hadn't stepped up to explain that there was a time limit for them to unload at that end of the move I might have had to rent the entire truck overnight as mobile storage.
As an older woman, apparently single, I feel as though I was taken advantage of by giving these dodos the benefit of the doubt.
As the day progressed, it became apparent that I had made an egregious error.
And when I finally made my payment via an electronic system that included a rating - the foreman insisted I had made a mistake by giving one star and said I had to undo what I'd written.
I explained, very carefully, that I had been patient and as accomodating as possible, but was extremely unimpressed with his work, had no intention of giving him a better rating and explained exactly why.
If I could leave no stars for these dodgy cowboys, I would.
Fraud
Unprofessional and slow workers tried to be as slow as possible. However, since it was a short move for 1 bedroom and me helping out. It finished in less than 2 hours. They charged me for 3 hours and added unnecessary/hidden fees and charges to make sure i didn't receive my deposit back.
Terrible!!! Will not recommend anyone to you their service
Terrible!!!!…they just informed 1 hour before the scheduled time that they cannot move in the booked day and they forced us to move to next day. The staffs were not professional. They chosen to par their truck far from my Unit although they could have better choice.
They arrived 2.5hrs late to our job
They arrived 2.5hrs late to our job. They couldn't park their truck and to make matters worse the driver of the truck hit 2x posts out the front of my unit complex causing damage to the pavers and electrical box.
When I rang to discuss this, I got a very confusing email from a Professionals contracting company (third party company). When I rang them to discuss the matter the operator pretended not to understand me, started pressing buttons and then hung up on me!
This is unacceptable, and I will be following up with consumer affairs about this.
Movee is a ROGUE removalist platform! Paid $1610 to help the 'removalists'!
Had to move out in July in a short time period and ended up using Movee to find 'Professional removalists' to save time! Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME if you want professional removalists!
Long story short, we paid $1610 to move from a very small 2 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor to another 2 bedroom apartment on 2nd floor only 2 kms away.
Two men arrived over 2 hours late and one guy was not even a removalist but a hairdresser looking to do some part-time work with his cousin! The removalists truck was old and decrepit, and not having a ‘hydraulic tail lift’ was, therefore, not fit for purpose
The removalists were also ill-equipped – they only had two ‘basic’ trolleys, and did not have an essential ‘stair climber trolley’, or a ‘furniture dolly’ even though I gave all the information to the platform about our move.They also disposed of cigarette butts onto the pathways and gardens of the apartment block, even when asked not to.
My partner ended up helping these bozos move and they could not even move everything in 8 hours. Hence, we spent the next day moving everything else ourselves. They even left graffiti on our kitchen benchtop for us to remove!
We have made a detailed complaint to Movee, and of course they have passed the buck onto their SO CALLED PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTORS who of course did not contact us. We were so traumatised by this experience, I would not want anyone to go through what we went through!
We also used their cleaning service for the end of lease clean and they were crap too! We paid $300 and she also arrived 3 hours late with no ladder or much equipment. They asked for more money to wipe any marks on the walls or even to clean our very small laundry space which was attached to our kitchen, the space could only fit one person. They would not sweep our very small balcony either! My partner ended up cleaning the place for 90 mins after she left as she did not clean the cupboards that she could not reach as she did not have a ladder.
I have only managed to write this now as it was a nightmare that we do not want to relive! BEWARE OF THESE ROGUE OPERATORS!!!!!!
