Airbnb Rude Host Amy Glen Falls, Home Town Hevan
The 2 Star reflects the Host of Airbnb only identified as Amy (Host), Glen Falls, Home Town Hevan. I'm very disappointed that Airbnb has such rude and tasteless host such as Amy of Glen Falls, I made reservations for July 17, 2026 not knowing that the reservations was made for the following year as I pulled up to the resident of Amy I messaged her informing her that I was checking in well she informed me that my reservations wasn't until next year and had my party enter the Airbnb our correspondence was through the Airbnb chat, which she stated that Jared her Co-Host was trying to contact me via phone but not through the app like all the other Host I communicated with online. It was a human mistake on the reservations but Amy demeanor was rude and insulting, I traveled a far distance to visit family to be insulted by a representative of Airbnb unacceptable.
Don’t use Airbnb
I’m not sure where to start. The house was full of mice and cockroaches, I was asked if I would like them to lay sticky traps down I declined due to having young children. Against my request they came into the home without asking invading our privacy and placed rat poison and the sticky traps) where my toddler could have easily gotten a hole of them. We spoke with Airbnb costumer service and they completely ignored my privacy complaint and issued a 30% refund. The costumer service reps were all from India and couldn’t understand me on the phone. I will never recommend this company to anyone!
As a property manager I hate working…
As a property manager I hate working with this company. They don’t mind refunding our guests thousands of dollars but when guest make thousands of dollars worth of damage we have to take the guest to court. Even with a signed rental agreement. Even with photos. If you’re wanting to rent your home out I suggest you don’t use this platform it will cost you thousands. In fact I’d say they will let guests damage your home, and you’ll come out of pocket. We should all just stop using Airbnb and go direct with property management company’s.
I tried to cancel one night and they…
I tried to cancel one night and they canceled both nights and only reimburse me for one night. I was packed and ready to go for the second night and now I’m left with no trip and I’m out $105.
I wondered why I booked with them once a long time ago and never did again. I hope I remember this next time do not look with Airbnb.

Re: Central Top Floor Appartment DT/Old Port - MTL
After the host asked us, on the day of check in, to pretend we were his friends rather than Airbnb guests due to a building dispute over renting units out, we relayed our concern over the discomfort of this request and subsequently and politely asked if we can arrange a refund as we didn’t want to be party to this.
The host insinuated it might be possible but that we have to cancel our booking first in order for them to see if they can refund you (not true) but we had no choice as we didn’t want to stay there any more and were time pressured before check in.
After it became clear the host had no intention of refunding us, Airbnb support was useless in our complaint and completely sided with the host, failing to acknowledge all the evidence of him asking us to lie during our stay. Do better.
Misleading listing photos
The apartment I rented looked nothing like the photos online. The pictures made it appear spacious and well-kept, but upon arrival, I found it cramped and in need of maintenance. The shower also had low water pressure, making it quite frustrating. I reached out to the host, but they were slow to respond. While the location was good, the discrepancies in the listing really dampened my experience. I expected a better stay, considering the price. Rental standards should really be stricter.
Not What I Expected
I was really disappointed with my recent stay. The listing mentioned several amenities that were either incomplete or just plain missing. For instance, I booked the place specifically because it advertised a full kitchen, but when I arrived, there were barely any utensils—not even a frying pan! The host was slow to respond to my messages, which added to the frustration. It took nearly half a day just to get basic info about Wi-Fi access. The location was decent, and the space itself was clean, but I expected much more based on the listing description. Plus, I noticed a few maintenance issues that had clearly been overlooked. The bathroom faucet dripped constantly, which was really annoying. I wanted to love this place, but the experience was far from what I had hoped for. A little more attention to detail and better communication from the host would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this one unless things change drastically.
Airbnb’s Escalation Process Failed When We Needed It Most
This experience has significantly changed my confidence in Airbnb.
Our family traveled from Canada for a combined business and family vacation. Within approximately 30 minutes of checking in, we realized the property was not suitable for our family and immediately contacted both the host and Airbnb before spending the night.
My disappointment is not simply with the outcome—it is with how Airbnb handled the case.
At approximately 1:50 a.m., Airbnb emailed us advising that our partial refund was time-sensitive and could decrease if we delayed cancelling. Around 4:00 a.m., Airbnb called my husband to advise that a new escalation supervisor would be taking over because the previous supervisor’s shift had ended. We were told someone would contact us shortly.
No one did.
I waited until 5:00 a.m., then called Airbnb again around 5:30 a.m. Throughout the morning, I continued calling after repeatedly being told someone would call me back within 15 minutes. No one ever did. I did not receive a meaningful response until nearly 24 hours later.
By then, I felt forced to cancel before receiving answers to my questions because Airbnb had already warned me that the refund available under the cancellation policy could decrease the longer I waited. I was effectively left choosing between waiting for Airbnb’s promised review or protecting what little refund remained.
Whether or not Airbnb ultimately agreed with my request, guests deserve timely communication, clear answers, and a meaningful review before being placed in that position. That simply did not happen here.
If you are a host for activities DO NOT…
If you are a host for activities DO NOT USE AIRBNB to promote your Activities. Chose Tik Tok instead. They let customers evaluate not your services and products but your location. Screwww them. They promote only expensive areas where tourists are overcharged and take trash as products and services. Don't waste your time. Absolutely trash

As per some of the other reviews I was not able to cancel a booking without losing my deposit of 50% of the total cost even though it was months before the actual booking (this August) and so they had plenty of time to re list the property.
The owner said they were not able to help as it’s their agent and Airbnb in charge even though I am sure they retained some of my money post agent and Airbnb fee. They did offer potentially to reschedule the date if the property was available, which it unfortunately was not.
Although the T&Cs are clear there was a medical reason for not being able to take the original date and contemplating a far in the future one was difficult at that moment. Unfortunately no exceptions.
The reason for 1 star is the attitude of the agent in the end and also there should be an option to pay a premium to get more flexible terms like flights. Airbnb please think about being human and the costs that everyone is having to pay in the current environment.
TBH the owner has been communicative and tried to be helpful which was appreciated.
I have been with them 6 years
I have been with them 6 years, I was a 5 star SuperHost and then just last week a 18 yr old teenager wanted to book and i pointed out that we prefer guests over 30 due to all the damage and thief by young people and that we would approve the stay but just wanted an acknowledgement from them that they know and agree to abide by our house rules and we heard nothing back but a short while later they canceled their stay and early the next morning we were permanently suspended. On top of that a couple days later this kid rebooked with us again with airbnb. I thought this odd and so we called them and were told multiple different stories over several calls. I was hung up on a couple of times when I asked for a supervisor. They have no problem telling lies and as many lies as needed to keep you guessing. I tried then on my end to delete my account but they would not let me delete it so all I could do was deactivate it. Now they expect me to still honor the future booking so they can still make money off of me and I would have no control over weather I'd ever get paid. I messaged the future guests and told them what happened and told them that they will have to call them to get their money back. I hope they can get it back but if they lie to me it a pretty sure bet that they will lie to them too. I will NEVER have anything to do with airbnb again.
I'm just hoping that come September 15 when they force all the host to absorb both the fee that host have been paying and now the addition of the guest percentage added to that which will be 15.2% charge to the host will cause a mass exodus and leave them bottoming out.
Abysmal Airbnb...Part two
Part two
Tax..
I have been hounded by Airbnb each time I sign in or get an enquiry to 'submit my taxes', and I politely suggested to them that 'I do not earn enough to pay your stinking US taxes, and the enclosed is what I received '
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure and legally compliant marketplace, we require all hosts receiving payouts to provide and maintain accurate taxpayer information.
This is a standard global requirement. Collecting this data allows us to comply with local and international tax laws, verify your account details, and ensure we issue correct year-end tax documents. Without this verified information on file, your upcoming payouts may be subject to mandatory withholding taxes or temporary suspension.
Thank you for your cooperation and for being a valued member of our community. If you have any questions about which forms to fill out, please let us know.
We are writing to follow up on our previous request for your taxpayer information. Under U.S. tax laws, collecting this information is mandatory for all accounts receiving payouts on our platform. Please be advised that failure to provide your updated tax details will result in immediate restrictions on your account. Per U.S. internal revenue rules, these consequences include:
Frozen Payouts: All current and future earnings will be held and cannot be transferred to your bank account.
Calendar Blocks: Your listing calendars will be blocked, preventing you from accepting any new bookings.
Mandatory Tax Withholding: We will be legally required to withhold up to 24% of your gross earnings to remit directly to the U.S. government.
To avoid these disruptions, please submit your tax documents securely through your account dashboard as soon as possible. Once verified, all account restrictions will be lifted.'
I then arrange my tax forms and numbers, which, believe me, is no easy task, and when I go to submit my invisible taxes, I receive this message.
'Tax information is not required from you at this time. We'll contact you if there's anything you need to do.
They threaten me with closure and freezing any income and then decide I no longer need to fulfil their outrageous demands and threats...
WTF............
PS why does everything that involves Blackrock have a bad stench about it, dodgy and corrupt.....

Horrible
Horrible. I work at a hotel, and they didn't assign a person to one of our rooms. I called twice just to be immediately hung up on. The third time, it was very hard to hear the lady that was speaking to me. I asked multiple times to transfer to someone else or a manager and she refused, stating it was policy. When I asked her to email me this policy, she refused.
Airbnb abandoned us when we needed them most
Our experience with Airbnb was deeply disappointing and has completely eroded our trust in the platform.
We booked an Airbnb in Colombia shortly before the birth of our son. Before booking, we specifically confirmed with the host that the apartment had 24/7 hot water and a dryer. The host confirmed both in writing. After we arrived, we discovered neither representation was true. The building only had hot water during limited hours, and the "dryer" simply did not exist.
Airbnb has since acknowledged the seriousness of the host's conduct and confirmed to us in writing that it will "take internal actions against the Host" because of the significant number of misrepresentations. Despite accepting that the host acted improperly, Airbnb has refused to compensate us because the amenity issues were raised outside its internal 72-hour reporting policy.
That position is difficult to understand. If Airbnb accepts that a host has materially misrepresented a property, why should a consumer lose all entitlement to a remedy simply because of an internal reporting deadline?
The situation became significantly worse when the bathroom basin detached from the stone benchtop during normal use, leaving us without a functioning bathroom for several days while travelling with our newborn baby. We reported the issue immediately. Rather than ensuring our safety and relocating us, Airbnb left us to deal with the consequences.
The tradespeople sent by the host were aggressive and intimidating. We felt bullied in our own accommodation while simply trying to have the bathroom repaired. Instead of protecting us, Airbnb failed to provide any meaningful support or alternative accommodation.
After we checked out—and after we had complained about the misrepresented amenities—the host then attempted to blame us for the bathroom failure and sought to recover the cost from us. It felt less like a genuine damage claim and more like retaliation for raising legitimate complaints.
Throughout this entire ordeal, Airbnb consistently prioritised internal policies over customer safety and fairness. Despite acknowledging the host's misconduct, Airbnb refused to provide any meaningful remedy, failed to protect us from intimidating behaviour, and left us to defend ourselves against allegations we strongly dispute.
Airbnb markets itself as providing peace of mind and support when things go wrong. In our experience, that promise disappeared the moment we actually needed it.
After this experience, I have serious concerns about whether Airbnb's Host Guarantee and AirCover genuinely protect guests when a stay goes badly wrong. I will be thinking very carefully before ever booking through Airbnb again.
After more than 6 years hosting on…
After more than 6 years hosting on Airbnb, we've made the difficult decision to stop supporting the platform.
This isn't because of our guests—we've been fortunate to host many wonderful people over the years. It's because of Airbnb itself and the way it supports (or fails to support) the hosts who make the platform possible.
Over the years, we've encountered issue after issue, and the most frustrating part has almost never been the problem itself—it has been Airbnb's inability to resolve it. Every interaction turns into an unnecessarily long and exhausting process.
Support has become increasingly difficult to rely on. Cases are constantly transferred between agents, responses are often generic or scripted, and it can take days—or even weeks—to receive a meaningful update. Even when you're told something will be resolved within 24–48 hours, those timelines frequently pass with little or no communication.
One of the most frustrating aspects of Airbnb today is the quality of its customer support. Nearly every interaction has been handled by offshore support teams from Philippine and India, and despite speaking with many different representatives, we rarely receive meaningful assistance or ownership of a case.
It is clear that Airbnb has prioritized reducing support costs over providing knowledgeable, empowered customer service. The result is a support experience where representatives often lack the authority or resources to resolve problems, leaving both hosts and guests frustrated.
As Superhosts, we have invested countless hours and significant resources into providing excellent hospitality, maintaining our properties, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Unfortunately, it often feels as though Airbnb views hosts as interchangeable rather than as partners. When problems arise, hosts are too often left without timely or effective support.
Perhaps most concerning is the lack of consistency. Hosts can wake up to find their listing suspended, their account restricted, or their visibility significantly reduced, sometimes due to mistakes that are later acknowledged by Airbnb. An apology does little to recover lost bookings, damaged reputation, or the time spent trying to resolve the issue.
If you're looking to build a long-term vacation rental business, think carefully before using Airbnb. Putting your entire business in the hands of a single platform means accepting that your visibility, bookings, and even your account status are ultimately controlled by decisions outside your control.
We have found it far better with Booking.com, Vrbo (particularly for entire homes) and Expedia.
It's disappointing because Airbnb was meant to do great things for the community, but maintaining that community requires investing in the hosts who create the guest experience every day—not just focusing on increasing bookings and revenue.
We sincerely hope Airbnb returns to treating hosts as valued partners. Until then, we can no longer recommend building a business that depends solely on this platform.
I have generally had good experiences…
I have generally had good experiences using Airbnb, which is why I was so disappointed with how my recent case was handled by customer service.
Within an hour of checking into my Airbnb, I reported extremely loud music coming from another unit. The noise was so intense that it caused items inside the apartment to vibrate. The host acknowledged my complaint and contacted the building, and the music temporarily stopped before returning later that evening. I contacted Airbnb again and was advised by a representative to document the issue, so I made audio recordings that night and again the following morning. Because the noise continued and made the property uninhabitable, I left and booked another Airbnb.
What disappointed me most was not the property itself, but Airbnb’s handling of my claim. Despite promptly reporting the issue, following the instructions given by their representative, and providing the requested recordings, I was later told the evidence was insufficient because the audio files did not contain verifiable time and location data. This requirement was never explained when I first reported the problem. It felt as though the burden kept changing after the fact.
I understand that Airbnb needs to verify claims, but I believe there should be reasonable consideration for guests who report problems immediately, follow the guidance they are given, and act in good faith. Customer service should focus on resolving legitimate issues rather than creating additional obstacles.
I hope Airbnb reviews its evidence requirements and complaint process so future guests receive clearer guidance and more consistent support.
