Renewal exorbitant, phone line impossible to cancel.
The auto renewal (£40 by direct debit) for breakdown cover was nearly twice the premium of last year, it has an excess fee of £30 applying. The same cover with no excess is available for £20 through a comparison site with a well known insurance company. Despite informing me of the renewal price, Dynamo Cover do not accept an email back declining renewal, you have to phone them. It has been almost impossible to get through, despite trying on numerous occasions. Yesterday I was holding on as number 1 in the line for 20 minutes, having already been on the phone for the best part of an hour! Was the line even attended? I finally managed to get through today, which is just after the renewal date, and was told that the cooling off period only applies to the original payment. To cancel they want £15 and there would be no refund of my premium. After insisting, I have finally been promised a partial refund (£24.27). This company is clearly using sharp practices and must be avoided.
For information, this is a reply I got from my request for a refund using the website (no refund and they want an admin fee of £15.99!!!!!) :-
Hello.
Thank you for your email. As you have requested to cancel your policy outside of the 14 Day Cooling off Period I can confirm that there is no refund of premium available and a £15.99 cancellation fee to be paid as per the Terms and Conditions that were ticked as having read and agreed to by yourself upon purchase of your policy.
We are willing to waive the £15.99 cancellation fee as a gesture of goodwill.
Would you like to proceed?
Kind Regards
