Disappointing experience with PayPal's dispute resolution
I'm extremely disappointed in PayPal's dispute process. They use AI to analyse the dispute and make a decision. There doesn't seem to be any way to discuss the dispute further when they settle in favour of the seller. I'm out of pocket US$89 (AU$128) for shoes from WideStep that did not match their description. I had numerous email conversations with Widestep (hint: don't buy from them!), but that did not seem to have been taken into account. This is the second time this has happened to me. It is unacceptable that sellers get away with false advertising at the expense of customers, and PayPal facilitates this.
In December 2025
In December 2025, I was out of the country. I had my PayPal account hacked in fund stolen. I had discontinuously happen until March when I returned to the country. I did not have possession of my laptop or cell phone to know any of this was going on. I’ve contacted PayPal twice in my attempts to get my money back. They said that the transactions look normal and are using so far to return my money. The problem is how can I make those transactions if I am out of the country I am pursuing binding arbitration and potential civil litigation of this matter if my money is not given back to me. This is a form of theft, and I will be pursuing multimillion dollar civil action against this company if money is not back in my account soon.
PayPal let me down when I need them
Did not honour customer payment protection Chinese Marnetic supplier said they had delivered offered no GPS evidence no photographic evidence cost of my delivery was £40. I lost to me thanks a lot PayPal that’s what I get after over 20 years of loyal business. I won’t be using you any time soon.
I wish there were a 0 stars option
I wish there were a 0 stars option. I had a fraudulent charge on my PayPal account, one that I proved multiple times I did not authorize. (Even though I had authorized other charges from this company.) Since I discovered this, I searched for the company, and they have a reputation of similar fraudulent charges. (Lesson learned.) PayPal moved my dispute around and I had thought I would finally get my stolen money back, but instead I received an email denying my case and if I wanted the documentation, I had to write a letter and mail it to their address in Omaha. (A physical letter, that they can claim was never received, and whatever evidence they send me, they can claim was lost in the mail.) I will NEVER use PayPal again and cannot believe they allowed this company to steal my money.
I wish I could give no Star
I wish I could give no Star, this company is awful, you can not get in touch of anyone, trying to cancel your account, I was on the phone on hold for over an hour, which was cancelled, tried again no success, you continue to speak to AI a robot I was subjected to fraud and want to cancel!!!!!
Run from this service
Run from this service. They have a 1.3 star rating. it doesn't get any lower. If you haveproblems with Paypal - please write the FTC with a compalint(Federal Trade Commision). Very easy to do. Not surewhy Trust Pilot doesn't have a warning here.
Don't use this for any kind of seller because they will cover the buyer but the seller is home they just take your money
I have all of the information stating that I gave the customer the product and the PayPal literally said that I didn't and took my money back and now is making me pay PayPal back don't use this for any transactions ever they are horrible their customer service is horrible don't use it
Being a merchant on Paypal is a total nightmare
I registered as a merchant on Paypal, using them as our payment provider.
Got my account limited out of nowhere 3 times without notice, even though I have given them every document they wanted within minutes of requesting them.
This lead to many of our customers complaining that checkout does not work. We are happy they finally totally limited our account and there’s no going back, because we are forced to find another, better, payment provider instead of stressing out with Paypal. 0/10 would not recommend this service to my worst enemy.
Thanks Paypal for this nightmare, and hope to never see you again!
I want to share my experience with paypal
I want to share my experience with PayPal; their service is terrible, and I do not recommend using them. I opened a PayPal account while I was under 18 and never made any withdrawals. When I turned 20 and tried to withdraw funds, they restricted my account; even after money arrived in the account, it remained restricted, and I couldn't withdraw it. I created another account and submitted all the requested information. When I tried to link my bank account, the system forced me to wait seven days. I waited, and for a month, I contacted them weekly to resolve the bank account issue. They even told me to wait until the 27th. I opened a support ticket, only to be told there was no solution other than waiting another seven days. To this day, I still haven't been able to withdraw my money, nor have I been able to speak with a manager or supervisor to resolve the issue.

Absolute scum
Absolute scum, just stopped my withdrawal of my own money, still won't give it me and not helpful in the slightest, I will never use them again after this and I'm considering getting the police involved.
Don't use PayPal there are much better apps, this is prob the worst all round
My experience with PayPal has been extremely disappointing.
My experience with PayPal has been extremely disappointing.
On 26 July 2026, my mobile phone was stolen in London. Within a very short period, the thief gained unauthorised access to my PayPal account, applied for PayPal Credit and made three purchases totalling £3,597.
I immediately reported the theft to Vodafone, HSBC, Revolut and the Metropolitan Police (Crime Reference 01/7864424/26).
I contacted PayPal as soon as I became aware of the fraud. My first claim was rejected without any meaningful explanation. I then spent over an hour on the phone to another adviser who repeatedly assured me that I was fully protected against fraud, told me she “had my back”, and promised all three transactions would be reversed. Relieved, I ended the call believing the matter had been resolved.
Later that same night I received another automated email saying my claim had been rejected again.
What concerns me most is that nobody has been able to explain why. I have been passed between different departments, nobody can tell me why the claim was rejected, and nobody will transfer me to the team that made the decision.
One of the fraudulent orders was placed with Argos under the name “Anwar Elmi” for collection at a location in Colindale—a person and location that have absolutely no connection to me. Despite providing this information, along with my police crime reference and evidence that my phone had been stolen, it appears not to have been properly considered.
I also cannot understand how PayPal Credit could allegedly be opened and used to spend £3,597 within such a short period after my phone was stolen without additional verification, yet PayPal concluded this was authorised activity.
I have now had to submit an identity theft claim through PayPal Credit while remaining liable for thousands of pounds of debt created by a criminal.
I hope PayPal reviews this matter properly because, so far, the handling of my case has left me with very little confidence in their fraud investigation process.
I have had an account since 2009
I have had an account since 2009. It was rocky at first but once you prove your honest PayPal is a great company
Worst platform to ever work with
Worst platform to ever work with. How do you close my account just because I was sent 1 dollar yet my account was varified and I provided all the necessary document?
Refund never received
Had an issue were PayPal stated they refunded me, which was never recieved. Asked them to provide a transaction ID or payment trace which they failed to do. Now they are requesting the money back??. Unhelpful staff who just transfer you back and forward as they are unable to deal with the issue. Horrendous institution
Two Refunds - Happy!
Been with Paypal for around 20 years and only ever had to dispute a transaction twice. Both occurred just a couple of weeks apart and caused by the courier, which was the same in both, failing to deliver the items.
The first was Halfords and the second was S.H. Tyres Online via eBay. Both sellers refused or ignored my refunds so raised cases with Paypal.
The Halfords one was sorted quite quickly with a full refund. The second took a bit longer and not being able to speak to a real person was the main cause of the delay. However, Paypal issued a full refund for the second one too.
All in all I was quite happy with the service.
Wow! Paypal is now a joke
Wow! Paypal has really went downhill
I'm pissed! They used to look out for the consumer. Would go to bat for you against these scammers. This is why scammers take PayPal now. PayPal rules in there favor with no proof of delivery! 2 times this week alone.
This is the worst service you can use…
This is the worst service you can use on the Internet. Impossible to cancel your account. A rabbit hole of pure BS. If I could gibe it a zero, I would
