It all works just fine until the moment…
It all works just fine until the moment you need a refund or support. They are as dodgy as they can, refunds will take ages, you will need to chase them, also they use different rates for transactions when buying from other currencies making you literally loose money when only asking for a refund. I’m removing all my transactions from this company and will never use them again. It’s a disgrace.

Not to trust. It is a scam when they claim you have the security of a refund when a seller does not deliver what is expected. So there is no need to use Paypal.
awful....as ever
Paypal is an awful platform. Like many on here, I've been locked out of their platform, no reason given, no explanation. It's not the first time. I've been told I ahve to wait 3 days! for what? why? NOT ACCEPTABLE! Obviously nobody at Paypal reads these otherwise they would investigate what is going wrong and RECTIFY this!!
Sided with merchant on unauthorized charge, no real investigation
On July 1, 2026, I was charged $54.99 by Google for a subscription following a free trial I had already cancelled. I never authorized this charge.
I disputed it through PayPal. My dispute was denied with no real investigation, no contact from PayPal, and no evidence shown that the charge was authorized. When I escalated through chat, my account was restricted mid-dispute and I was forced to redo identity verification I had already completed the week before. One agent ended the chat without giving me a way to submit the documentation they requested.
After multiple escalations, PayPal denied the dispute again and continues to side with the merchant.
I've now filed complaints with the CFPB, FTC, and BBB. This entire process has taken hours across multiple chat sessions for a $54.99 charge that should have been a simple refund. PayPal's buyer protection is not functioning the way it's advertised.
PayPal not what it used to be.
When I first started using PayPal, many years ago, they were great at resolving issues involving scams. Unfortunately the last two disputes I have lodged have been flat out denied, even though I have provided all evidence that I have definitely been scammed, i.e. billed twice or sent a product that was not as advertised. It's like they just have bots replying to dispute claims now and have done away with real people. I will now be deleting all of my PayPal accounts as I no longer consider them to be trustworthy.
Not with the hassle
I have had PayPal for many years, but was recently scammed by a seller. When I filed a dispute because product was never received, they ruled in favor of the scammer. Now I am trying to close my account, but am blocked because they require a bank statement from me. Totally unprofessional
Accessory to theft
I had a merchant charge my account, and provide me with nothing.
I contacted the merchant and they claimed that I would have to file a dispute with PayPal. I did.
I provided screenshots of the live chats, and PayPal decided to resolve the dispute in the merchant's favor.

I have a dispute about not receiving items from a company name Justen trading company and the proof I have that the items were not delivered to me was not taken into account at all. This is a fraud company and I am out of 64.56. Paypal offerred me that amount as an offer voucher meaning that I will have to shop from one of their offering companies to take advantage of getting this money back. They side with companies and not the customers even with proof. the customer service is horrible. the 1st rep got upset and transferred to someone that spoke another language. I spoke to the supervisor that offer the above voucher and I was asking how it went and he gave me minimal information.
No protection from fraud
I have been a long term user and fan of PayPal but today I have stopped because within minutes of my making a complaint about a hidden repeat subscription I knew nothing about they claimed there had been no misrepresentation. So I apparently bought something I didn’t want, without my knowledge, and with nothing actually delivered to me but had not been misled? They are facilitating these scams.
Don't use PayPal
Don't use PayPal. They only help you if you open a ticket via them within 30 days. They say you have to contact the seller first and see if you can come to an agree and when the 30 days are over PayPal will not help you anymore. Better use a creditcard. Cause even when you send PayPal a document will all the chat history why it took you more than 30 days to contact PayPal they will simply say 30 days have been past so they favor the seller. I am never going to use PayPal again to purchase something.
The customer service is horrific
The customer service is horrific. My account has been locked for over a month however I have submitted all documents requested and chasing every couple of days with no luck. Every time they reply they say I will get an update in up to 7 days but ignore the previous communication and dates given. Avoid where possible.

There is absolutely no security through paypal. I was scammed for 10k over 4 paypal transactions. Paypal authorised every single payment. My average spend on payoal is $23. I am fighting this will paypal but their rudeness and ignorance is out of this work. Even when pro riding them with a police report and full evidence, it seems to fall on deaf ears.
Currently 8 weeks into a battle with them.

Prepare to get frustrated
I have a dispute with item I purchased and contacted customer service for help the number was apparently a London one I spoke with a customer service representative who asked me if I had received the item I told her no she then asked me another four times that same question at which point I was getting extremely frustrated with her because I had to keep asking her to repeat herself as I couldn’t understand what she was saying I then asked for a English speaking person to talk with she said that she could speak English????!!!after 20 minutes of wasting my time she eventually put me through to the resolution centre and she said that she had made a note of my conversation and said that she would attach it to my file so that I wouldn’t have to repeat myself.
Guess what I had to explain it all over again to a same female whom in my opinion English is not her first language in total I spent about 50 annoying minutes of my time and call credit
I demanded that a English speaking manager to call me back which I feel is very acceptable because some calls you make you are asked to speak with a customer support person that talks English or whatever the number that input on your keypad

I've been with PayPal for 13 years and I'm completely done with them . The customer service is terrible and they do nothing to protect their customers. The AI is so bad and their representatives are rude as hell.

I used paypal for almost 20 years before needing them to resolve a dispute and when I did, they completely failed. They effectively sided with the seller and insist that I need to organise and pay for the return and will hold all risk of the courier losing it. This conclusion took a very long time to reach and is directly against UK consumer law. The PayPal agent tried to argue that PayPal's terms and conditions have priority over UK law. Definitely make sure you don't have it set up as Direct Debit because then even your bank won't help.

Sent an item through mail. They blocked my account and sent my money back to the customer. Spent a month chasing paypal for them to tell me they are on the customer side. I had proof the customer was in the wrong they never asked me to send it just told me im not getting my money and of course the customer never sent the product back. 300 dollars billion dollar company
